Even earlier update than I promised because last chapter got 7 votes holla and I couldn't wait till Friday. Do you know how hard it is to have a written chapter and have to wait till a specific day to get feedback? Ain't nobody got time for that. Anyways hope ya enjoy it ;)

Hayes POV (like a day after Amber see Reb and Cam and he likes her picture)

"Dude we gotta get out of here." Matt exclaims, me barely able to hear him over the bombs and gun shots.

"No why don't we stay a while?" I snap at him sarcastically and he rolls his eyes. But it's not the time to be sarcastic.

Some Afghanistan soldiers got pissed off that the USA kept sending troops to help them as if they couldn't defend theirselves. So now they're trying to get rid of us. And no, not in that polite way where they ask us to leave and we get a nice flight back home. Hell no. They've got a shitload of guns and grenades.

Matt and I have found a warehouse to hide inside but we can't stay here for much longer. The gunmen are moving towards our area, if we stay here we'll be dead in a minute.

"Grier, Espinosa." My earpiece crackles in my ear.

"Sir?" I respond, hoping that they have a way to get us out of here.

"How're you guys doing?"

"We're hanging on sir." I sigh, leaning back against the barrels we're hiding against. I may be dead in 10 minutes.

"Helicopter, straight to the left of the base, is leaving in exactly 7 minutes. You guys gotta get on it."

"Got it." I repeat it to Matt and he shakes his head.

"The base is a good 4 minutes if we sprint. Plus avoiding being shot?" Matt's right, we're not gonna make it out of this country alive.

"We gotta try." Might as well die a fighter. "And we gotta leave now."

He nods and we both slowly stand up, our guns in front of us. Though we're not completely unarmed, Afghanistan's definitely got the leg up. There's hundreds of them, with huger weapons.

"Let's go." Matt says and I nod. We run through the back door of the warehouse into the chaos outside. Many bodies already lay on the ground, from the US and Afghanistan.

Matt and I ignore them and start to sprint to the base where we were staying. The adrenaline pumps inside me because this is what I've trained for. Now's just the moment to see if I trained hard enough.

Matt shoots a guy with a gun running towards us as easily as taking a bite of cake. The guy crumples to the ground and we continue to run.

It's like a video game Will and Nash used to play but I wasn't allowed to because it was "too violent". The characters were trying to reach the finish line or the end of the game. Now Matt and I are trying to reach the helicopter. But if we die it's not like we can just hit play again. We're done.

"Go, go!" I shout at Matt and we sprint even faster passing the fires and bodies on the ground. We continue to run for a few more minutes and a helicopter comes into view. Almost there.

The helicopter's not too far now. Not far at all actually. Run for 15 more seconds and we're there. But in this thing that we call life, nothing just works out perfectly.

I can see my fellow troops in the helicopter waving for us to hurry up. Matt and I sprint, harder then we've ever gone.

Then he falls.

"Matt! Matt you good?" I yell stopping momentarily when my friend crumples to the ground in the sickening way that man he shot just did.

I squat next to him and see a bullet has indeed hit him. Square in the chest. All the blood makes my head pound as I put my arms under his armpits and try to drag him to the helicopter. Is this really happening?
