“The sun is setting

The leaves fall-fall is setting in

There's a slight breeze outside

It's getting cold

I walk outside to feel the breeze against my face

I close my eyes and listen...

I live in a world where there's so much life around me

But for that moment I feel like I'm the only one

The only one, and for that moment I picture myself in another place

My Sanctuary

I go over and sit on a bench and can hear the birds overhead

My mind starts to wander

Life wouldn't seem so bad as a bird

They get to see the world

I would like to see the world

So much I have yet to see

So many people I have yet to meet

I open my eyes

I go back inside

Back to reality.”

Zoe!”

“Maybe we should try again?”

“She has been through a lot, but she is wearing her necklace, we just need to give her time,” I hear the Queen say.

“She can hear us now,” Niklaus whispers. I feel him squeeze my hand and I wish that I was able to move to assure him that I was alright, but I felt frozen in place.

“She just died, we can’t expect her to wake up right away. I told you her spirit is here!” Zoe exclaims.

The King suggests, “Let’s give her time to rest. Niklaus?”

“I’ll be with you guys in a moment,” He says. The door closes with a soft click. “Ambrose, I am so sorry I couldn’t help you fight him. You can’t cross over, I... I need you in my life.”

I blink a few times and find myself staring into the depths of Niklaus’ navy blue eyes. I am gasping for air and I am in a cold sweat, it is almost like waking up from a terribly real nightmare. “I’m... alive! But how?”

“There a few different factors. Your malachite necklace and Zoe used that spell book that you framed to find a spell to help resurrect the dead. It only works on the deathly ill or in your case someone who is on the brink of death. We found you and Albert in the kitchen, and somehow you weren’t dead. It gave us some hope that we hadn’t lost you forever,” He hands me a bottle of the elixir from my nightstand.

“So I am alive... because of a poem and a rock on my neck?”

“Well we also tried giving you some immortal juice the few times you woke up. Zoe told us that you had become an immortal so we figured it would help keep your strength up. You were dazed the few time you were awake, but you weren’t the same. It was like you were just about to cross over to the Silent Creek.”

“Can we go to Wonderland?” I ask finishing the bottle.

“How about you try making the portal,” He suggests.

“How do I do that?” I ask, feeling slightly more energetic as a result of the red juice.

“Close your eyes,” I follow his orders. “And imagine a golden mist engulfing only the two of us.”

The smell of grass fills my nostrils and I open my eyes with a big grin - I missed this place so much.

And I missed you. I realize that I can now hear Niklaus’ thoughts. I try to read his mind, but I can’t. He looks at my pouting expression and explains, “Later, I’ll teach you how to shield your thoughts and create a ‘remote’ that allows you to share your thoughts or read others on will.”

I missed you too, so much. “I was so scared that I wasn’t going to be able to save you.”

“You are so much stronger than you think, Ambrose, I wished I could have been there to help you, but I turns out that you didn’t need me.”

“I need you in my life,” I whisper.

“I don’t think I go spend the rest of eternity without you either,” He wraps his arms around my waist.

I press my lips to his in fear that he will disappear if I don’t. I don’t want to be a dream, and if it is I do not want to wake up.

“Ambrose, you aren’t dreaming!” He chuckles pecking my lips once more.

“But-”

“Don’t make me compel you,” He warns. “I still have to teach you how to block your thoughts, as much as I’ll miss your insane commentary, my fair Princess.”

“You don’t have to compel me, you have me wrapped around your finger, my charming prince.”
