Chapter 28

Julies pov

"Get in Julie. I can drive you" Nick says.

"She's not going anywhere with you" Luke says.

"It's fine Luke. He is my boyfriend after all. I'll meet you there" I say.

Nick looks over at Luke with a smug smile on my face.

Luke walks over and opens the car door for me.

I get in the car and put my belt on. Nick speeds off down the road as I watch Luke walk to his car.

"Why are you eating that Rubbish. I thought I told you not to eat crap like that anymore!" He says.

"I'm sorry. I forgot" I say.

"Yeah, you'll be sorry when you get fatter than you already are" he says.

He looks down at my thigh, making me feel self-conscious and lightly lift my thigh off the seat.

The awkward tension gets too much for me so I turn on the stereo.

As if the world is saying 'fuck you' to me, sunset curve just so happens to be playing.

"We really can't escape these boys now can we?" He says, placing a hand on my thigh.

"I guess not" I laugh awkwardly.

I look up and realise that Nick just took a wrong turning.

"Look, I don't know what you're trying to play at but I have a job to get to and if you don't take me there then you will not receive a single dime so I suggest that you turn this musty ass car around" I say.

Nick's face goes red and he turns the car around, driving in the right direction.

When we finally arrive outside the massive building, I get out the car and Nick drives off. A couple of minutes later Luke pulls up in front of me.

He parks his car and we walk inside together.

"I was think that we could grab some breakfast from the cafe on the next floor" Luke says.

"Sound nice" I smile at him.

We walk to the elevator and press the button for the first floor.

After a few seconds, the doors open and we walk to the cafe.

"What do you want Jules?" He asks me.

"A bagel with eggs please" I say.

"Next!" The cashier calls.

"Can we get two bagels please. One with egg and one with cream cheese, thanks" Luke steps up and says.

We get our food and sit down to eat for a while. We talk about random things and even spitball some ideas for the song.

When we're finished, we go back to the elevator and prepare for our long trip up the the near-top of the building.

The elevator pings when the doors shut and I fall back, startled.

I fall into Luke and immediately push myself off him but my hands don't part from his arm. Instead, I stare into his eyes whilst he does the same back.

I start to lean in and so does he. Eventually our lips meet in the middle and he embraces me in a soft, slow kiss.

It feels like the whole world has melted around me.

Even though we've only done it once before, it feels so right when our lips meet.

With both of us so lost in our moment, we don't realise when the doors ping open again.

We continue to make out, not realising that Kenny, the social manager, is stood staring at us.

"Kids!" He starts. "I don't know what this is but make it stop. Julie, you have a boyfriend! You all better go on live and clear things up about yesterday, everyone still thinks you're dating. It's ridiculous"

"Okay, can we borrow the phone again please?" Luke asks.

"Sure" Kenny says, handing Luke the phone.
