You grabbed your pouch and set it down on the table, double checking that everything was in there. You closed it and swung it over your shoulder. You seized your cloak and draped it over your body. You had finally been ready to head over to town where the castle stood. You pushed the door open and went to where your stead was.
You untied the lead from the fence and mounted the horse. You pulled your cloaks hood up so the wind wouldn't blown in your face as much. As soon as you were securely on the saddle, you kicked off. The only noise that could be heard were the sounds of galloping and potions that were tied around your waist clinking together.
Traveling by horse was much quicker then by foot. But since you lived deep inside the forest it would take longer. You knew this before you started heading to town so you made sure to wake up bright and early today. Because of this you were quite tired, but the cold air plus the coffee you drank earlier made it easier for you to stay awake.
You knew you were close by town because you could pick up the faint smell of bread and lively chattering nearby. The trees parted ways and buildings started surrounding you. The townspeople moved out of the way as you rode down the cobble path and onto royal grounds.
You stopped in front of the castle and dismounted your horse.
A man dressed in full Netherite armor slowly approaching you. "I can take your horse for you Miss." He said.
You trusted him since he did protect this place, so you handed him the lead and continued forward. As you stepped foot inside the castle you looked around, admiring the fine pieces of art that decorated the halls. In awe, you stopped at one particular piece. It seemed to be a portrait of a young man, the frame a tinted gold.
"Miss, are you coming?" The guard asked, stopping in front of you as you broke eye contact with the painting.
You tightened your grip on the bags handle. "Mhm." You hummed.
He turned back around, his back facing you. You gulped, slowly treading behind him. You were nervous, you had never seen the royal family. In fact you didn't even know how they looked like. You only knew of them and their stories. From what you heard they were bloodthirsty warriors not afraid to paint the walls with blood.
The man cleared his throat. "We're here. Are you ready?"
You inhaled sharply and stood up straight. "Nope! But i'm already here so," You paused to steady your breathing. "lets do it."
He nodded at the two other guards beside the big door. They pushed it open in sync, revealing a grand room with expensive trinkets. Windows lit up the room, making the reveal much more surprising. You looked down as you stepped on the velvet carpet. It lead to four golden thrones - the king in the middle and his sons by his side.
You quickly glanced at all of them before looking back down at the floor. They weren't at all how you imagined them. You and the guard stopped in front of the family. He bowed before leaving you alone with them. You jumped slightly as the doors behind you slammed shut. You calmly bowed down, staying in that position.
"So, what is your business here." You guessed that the king was speaking to you since he had a more deeper and intimidating voice.
"I was invited here for a position as potions master." You replied, you tried your best to seem calm. You made sure to hide your hands inside of your cloak so they couldn't see them shaking from nerves.
"Ah yes I remember now. Remind me, what was your name again." The king asked, his voice much more light and happy.
"Y/n L/n." You stiffened as you heard a low chuckle. It definitely wasn't the kings voice.
The king shushed his son before talking to you again. "I see, and I take it you accepted our offer?"
You nodded. "Yes I have."
"Great!" It was a different voice that spoke. "But before we have someone give you a tour we must see your face first. Just to make sure you aren't some criminal of course."
You stood up straight as you reached for your hood. You tried to stop your hands from shaking as you pulled it down. You could now see all of them clearly, and so could they. A smile appeared on the family's faces as they stood up.
"Welcome to the team Lady Y/n." The king spoke sweetly.
You were a little shocked at the new title being used with your name, but nonetheless you were grateful they were nice.
"Let me introduce you to my sons." He said, walking towards you. "This is Tom, the youngest." He gestured towards his left.
You looked to see a surprisingly tall boy with golden blonde hair, he seemed to be aggravated at the word 'youngest'. You knew little of him, he started a whole war because something of his was stolen.
"And over on my right is my oldest, Technoblade."
You had heard of him before too, the half piglin hybrid with a thirst of blood. You had been told the story of him spawning Withers during war a million times.
"And last but not least is Wilbur, the second oldest." He said.
Your gaze fixed on a tall brown haired man, the same one from the picture you had come across earlier. You definitely had heard of him, you remembered the countless times you had been told about the 'The great Prince Wilbur'. You shuddered at the thought of what he did. He blew up a whole country, who manages to have that much explosives.
You were only a tiny bit skeptical about working for the most reckless and powerful royal family, but you could work with it.
"It's an honor to serve all of you." You said, stooping into a bow.
The king chuckled at your actions. "Well it's an honor to have you work for us. And you don't have to be so formal by the way."
Your eyes widened as you hurriedly straightened up.
He snapped his fingers, causing the big doors to open again. "Guards, go fetch Lady Ester to escort our newest recruit around the castle."
The guards nodded and ran out of the room. They soon came back with an unfamiliar face. You were surprised when a Zombie Piglin came up to you, a huge smile on her face.
"I can take it from here Your Majesty." Ester said, her hoof grabbing your hand.
"Excellent, thank you Lady Ester." The king said, sitting back on his throne.
"Of course Phil!" She waved goodbye to the family and dragged you out of the room. As you exited you could feel someone's eyes burn through the back of your head. You wondered who but before you could turn around to see, the doors had already been shut.
