Daddy's Girl

Emily POV

After the events of Alanna's birthday party I had decided I need to get away from everything and get away from Randy. I had made the decision to make the 13 hour drive from missouri to texas to visit my father, I hadn't seen him in quite some time and I just had to hope he wouldn't find me turning up unannounced suspicious.

Pulling on to the drive way I see the familiar sight of my dads old beat up truck and my dad leaning over the hood trying as always to fix something.

"You know it would be much easier to buy a new one" I smile as my father looks up at me

"Emily?" He says frowning "why are you here?"

"Oh so I need a reason to visit you now?" I ask

"Of course not honey" he smiles "but you never turn up unannounced, what you running from?"

"Nothing dad I just wanted to see you" I sigh

As my dad slowly walks up to me I know he's not buying a word I say, stopping in front of me he places his hands on my shoulders and look me right in the eye his frown returning.

"What happened and who's ass do I need to kick?" he asks

"Dad please" I sigh

"Where's Randy?" He asks "He's always with you"

And that's all it took just the mention of his name and I find myself  burying my face in my dads chest and sobbing, wrapping his arms around me my dad holds me for a moment before speaking.

"Well now that I know who's ass I need to kick are you going to tell me what happened?" He asks

"We....we're not getting on at the moment" I say "but it's not his fault and we've both said and done things we didn't mean"

Placing an arm around my shoulder my dad guides me towards the house, leaning into his side I find myself trying to figure out a way to explain everything that won't end with my dad wanting to kill Randy.

"Start from the beginning" he says placing a cup of coffee in front of me"

"Like I said it's not his fault, it's his wife she's decided she wants me out of the picture, and she is making it look like I'm the problem by making sure Randy doesn't see anything she does"

"Have you told Randy what she's doing?" He asks

"Yes and that made things worse" I sigh "all we do is row and he said that our friendship meant nothing to me becuase I wouldn't try to get on with Kim, and I said he didn't really mean it when he said he loved me"

"Wait a second are you telling me he doesn't believe you?" He says

"No he doesn't" I say "apparently to believe me he has to see it"

"I'll tell you what he's going to see" my dad growls "my fist just before I knock his god damn teeth down his throat"

"Dad I don't want you to beat him up" I say

"Emily Calaway you better give me a damn good reason why you are defending that boy" my dad says trying to look stern

"Is loving him a good enough reason?" I ask

"And now we get to the meat and potatoes of the situation" my dad chuckles "I was wondering when you would admit it"

"What?" I ask

"Honey I knew the first time I saw you with him" he says "that boy had you spellbound, and I was convinced you were going to end up an Orton"

"Well you don't have to worry about that he doesn't feel the same way" I say

"I'd be more inclined to say he just can't see whats right in front of him" he says

"What do you mean?" I ask

"In our line of work it's very hard to find someone who isn't after your money or what they can get from being with you" he says "now from what Bob has told me about this woman thats exactly the kind of person he's married, and the last thing he wants is you telling him he made a mistake" he says pausing for a moment.

"It was the same for me with your mother, everyone tried to warn me but I wouldn't listen because I didn't want to be told I'd got it wrong" he says "The point is I didn't find what I was looking for until I met Michelle, in Randy's case he's already found what he's been looking for he just can't see it yet"

"Or maybe we just aren't meant to be" I say "so does this mean you won't beat him up?"

"Oh I still want to rearrange his face" my dads laughs "but becuase  you love him I won't, however if your god father finds out ain't nothing gonna stop him beating his ass"

"I was planning on visiting Uncle Steve while I was here" I say

"He'd like that, just like I say don't tell him what numb nuts has done" he says "hey here's a thought the next time that money grabbing wench has a go at you film her"

"I did but we didn't get the start of the row so it looked like I started it" I sigh

"Ok so you need a camera rolling before she walks into the room" he says rubbing his beard "leave it with me I know a guy, that women will regret messing with my little girl"
