"Hey (Y/N)? Have you done it before?"

"Hm?"

"You know, sneaking into people's houses. You didn't seem to have any trouble doing it today so I was wondering if... You've done it before?"

"..."

"(Y/N)?"

"... Not really."

"Not really?"

This was the conversation I had with Osano after I saved his cat in chapter 9. I wasn't lying when I said that I didn't sneak into people's houses.

However... That doesn't mean I never went through something that involved sneaking around places, which gave me the experience that helped me know what to do.

Sneaking 'into' places, no.

Sneaking 'out of' places...

(Many Years Ago)

Maybe it was because of that conversation, or maybe the world wanted to play a cruel trick on me. It was a memory that took place a long time ago, back to before I even met Ayato, and when I was all alone. It was a memory I wanted to forget.

I was left with a babysitter that day, and they took me to the park in hopes I would play with the other kids there, and maybe even make some new friends for a change. Not that there were many options. That day, there weren't many kids and it remained that way until the sun began to set.

I remember my babysitter was busy taking to some people, and I wandered off into a wooded area close by without their knowledge. Little did I know, it would turn out to be a poor decision. Then again, how was I supposed to know a kidnapping was going on?

Everything was a blur. I don't remember why they kidnapped the boy, nor did I remember their faces or what was said. But I did know that even though I was only a small child, a witness was a witness. I have eyes that can see things, ears that can listen, and a voice that can speak words. Those were all reasons why they won't let even a kid see and go free.

I kicked and screamed all I could but with no luck. All I got out of all that was a hurt ankle and my hands tied together like the original victim. They forced us both into a dark colored car and took us to an abandoned building and locked us in one of the rooms.

Back then, I was just a normal little girl. I wasn't even my manipulative self yet. So I did whatever a child would do if they were placed in a situation such as this. I cried.

I noticed however, that the boy next to me did not let out even a whimper. Instead, I noticed how he tried to wiggle his hands free from the rope with a concentrated look on his face. I was too busy watching him to notice that I stopped crying. When I did, he already managed to free himself.

I gaped at him. "H-How did you..." I spoke to him for the first time.

The boy's eye widened as he turned to me. It was almost as if he somehow forgot I was there. "I noticed they didn't tie the rope tight enough, so I thought I could wiggle my hands free. It worked." Almost as if his free hands weren't proof enough, he held out the rope that once tied them together just seconds ago. I tried to do the same but he stopped me. "You don't have to. I'll do it. You'll just hurt your wrists."

Before he was able to even touch me, It felt like I was getting pulled out of slumber.

(...)

Maybe because that WAS the case. I shut off the alarm that had awoken me and laid back down, staring up at my bedroom ceiling. 'That dream...' I thought back to what I dreamt of.

I knew right away that it wasn't just any simple dream. It was an old memory from a long time ago.

A memory long forgotten.
