"(Y/N)?" I heard someone calling my name. "Come on, wake up. It's morning."
I tossed and turned before cracking open my eyes, looking at the owner of the voice. "Do I need to remind you that I stayed up late plotting murder with someone, and then woke up early to make bentos? I just went back to sleep." I said from my spot on the couch.
Ayato looked down at me with his usual straight face. "That's quite a combination."
I nodded. "It is isn't it? What did you do last night?"
He rolled his eyes but a sound of amusement escaped him. "Not much. Should you be getting ready?" I didn't say anything and instead pulled the blanket off me to reveal my school uniform. "Alright then." Was all he said before entering the kitchen area of his house, where he saw two bentos on the kitchen table.
He observes them for a little while before turning to me. "You made two?"
"Yeah, why?" I got off the couch and stretched.
"I thought you were planning on just making one. You know, just for Taeko?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "I just felt like it. You know I like spoiling you." I laugh to myself.
He picks up both of the bentos and puts them in his school bag. "I know that, but what are you going to eat? You didn't make one for yourself."
"I'll just get food from baker boy. He said we should eat together sometime, and that he would make something." While I was finishing gathering my stuff, I noticed that Ayato stopped talking. I looked over to see him staring at me. I could see faint traces of a pout.
After a while he finally spoke again. "If I learn how to cook, would you eat the food I make instead..?"
My eyes widened for a split second before I gave a small laugh. "What, are you jealous of Amao? Shouldn't you save your jealousy for Taeko?"
He grabs my wrist and opens the door to his house, dragging me outside with him. "No one can replace me." He says with a determined look.
"Haha. Yeah, yeah. Only you are my best friend." It seems that even though he now has a crush, he would never forget our friendship. I suppose it's a pleasant surprise.
"Best friend..." he whispered to himself. He sounded happy as he said that.
Then, I suddenly remember something. I rummage through my bag before pulling something out. "Here you go bestie, I nearly forgot to give this to you." The item I gave him was one of the poisons I had gotten from the nurse's office. It was the the emetic poison, something that'll get someone sick if consumed. "Do you remember the plan?"
He puts it in his bag. "I do. It sounds simple enough."
(Time Skip)
Once we arrived at school, we were quick to find a certain trio. Taeko and Osano were talking and Hanako was just listening. He looks to be waiting for something. We decided to listen in on their conversation.
"I can't believe you overslept again! It's just like back in middle school!" Osano was clearly upset.
Taeko looked guilty. "I'm sorry..."
They continued arguing about the fact she overslept. I sweat dropped "Geez, maybe we don't have to worry about Osano after all." I whispered to Ayato.
He watches them with an annoyed look. "I would never talk to senpai like that... NEVER..."
I gave him a pat on the shoulder. "I know you wouldn't."
Osano then changed the subject. "Anyway, I want you to meet me on the school rooftop at lunchtime. Got it?"
