Just Osano

"Enough! How many times do I have to tell you that I'm not interested?! I'm. Not. Interested!!

I hid myself behind a corner of a wall. The voice sounded like it belonged to Osano and it looked like he was still on the phone. I probably wouldn't have cared what he had to say to whoever he was on the phone with, and would much rather get back to Ayato. However, his outburst just now made made it impossible for me to not be curious. I continued listening in.

"If you don't stop bothering me, I'm going to call the cops and-"

...

"...Wait... What..? Are you... Serious?!"

...

"Okay. Okay fine! I won't call the police."

...

"Look, this is a bad time for me. We'll talk about this later. Just... Don't do anything rash, okay?" He hangs up and spoke to himself. "Ugh... Why did something like this have to happen..?"

'It would seem like I came across something interesting.~ Although...' Do I really want to get involved in whatever is going on with Osano? Is there really a point? I doubt he would be in the mood to try to make any moves on Taeko, and this problem of his could be helping with decreasing his mood. But what if...

I went out of my little hiding spot, revealing myself to Osano, who was about to head to our class. He looked at me in panic. "You?! What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in class?"

"I could say the same to you, though classes hadn't started yet. I was giving something back to someone and was about to return to our classroom when I heard you talking."

His face pales. "You... Heard my phone call?"

I shrug my shoulders. "Not much of it. Only enough to know that you're upset about it." I wore a mask of fake worry with a worried tone of voice to match. "Are you okay?"

"I don't want to talk about it. I probably would with Raibaru, but... You know..." He seemed to be filled with even more sorrow then he was before when he mentioned his deceased friend.

"I think I've told you before that I would be willing to listen to you. I may not be Raibaru, but there are plenty of people around you who you can befriend and come to trust. Just like you have with Raibaru."

"That is true..." He looked like he was about to cry. He was overwhelmed and really upset. Well, apparently whatever it is he's going through now, it's so bad to the point he threatened to call the cops, so it must be pretty bad.

I grab both of his hands and he looks at me curiously. I look into his eyes with seriousness. "If you are willing, I can be that friend for you. I can listen to you and do what I can to help to try to make things better. It's unpleasant to go through things alone, or to be alone period."

"You say that as if you've been alone before. That's seems hard to believe." True, I am a bit popular at this school, so it would be hard to believe that there was a time I didn't have friends.

I thought about his words for a second. "Who knows." I went back to what I was saying earlier. "Anyway, I can become that friend for you, but you're the one who has to let me in, to trust me. It's up to you."

He was in thought for a second. Then once again, his eyes watered, but tears refused to fall. "Well... I do have a problem, but... I'm not sure if you'd be able to help me..."

"I'll still listen." I encouraged him, which seemed to have worked.

He squeezes my hands, which I were still holding. "A few days ago, in Shisuta Town, this weird girl approached me and started flirting with me... She was really creepy and gross, and I wasn't interested in her at all! It took forever to make her leave me alone." He took a deep, shaky breath before continuing. The next day, I started getting messages from her... Even though I never gave her my phone number!"
