Chapter 1- The Start of it All

Years had gone by and I remained at Ayato's side. We were going to experience the first day of a new school year at Akademi High School. That morning, it was quiet and peaceful. It was nice and relaxing...

"Rise and shine sleeping beauty!" I say as I threw open the curtains in Ayato's room. Said boy flinched when light made contact with his face. "Wake up, the sun has risen."

He slowly sits up and grumbles with his usual expressionless face. "And what do you want me to do? Photosynthesis?"

"Some sun would be good buuuut. No. It's the first day."

He looks at me for a second before responding. "My alarm hasn't even gone off yet." He says that, but it goes off right after he said that. He swiftly turns it off without looking away from me. he sighs before trying to rub the sleep from his eyes. "You couldn't have just waited until it went off?"

I put my hands on my hips. "I would but you would probably just go back to sleep again after turning it off."

"I would have gotten more sleep."

"Only several seconds!"

"More sleep is still more sleep. I'm really tired."

I shrugged my shoulders. "Well you would have been more rested if you hadn't stayed up so late."

"And who's fault is that?" He says as he narrows his eyes at me, showing a slight bit of irritation.

"Oh that's right, I made breakfast. Eat that once your done getting ready. I'm leaving now." By now, you lovely readers are probably wondering 'What the heck are we doing in Ayato's house in the morning?' Well I'll be happy to answer! I always spend the night at Ayato's the night before the first day of school every year. My idea not his, he wouldn't suggest having someone who will keep him up all night when he has to wake up early the next day. It's sort of a first day of school tradition, where I force my way into his house and spend the night/keep him up. He either doesn't care, or knows that theirs no stopping me, so he let's me do it. It's probably both.

He looks at me with slight confusion mixed with tired. "Wait... Why are you leaving so early..? Oh, that." What he means by 'that', it means that every year on the first day, I'd go to school early in search for new students. New students mean new prey, and the sooner I'm on nice and friendly terms with them, the better. I'd get useful things out of them sooner, and you know what they say. The sooner the better! And that's why I gotta get there early.

"Yep! I'll be seeing you later sleepyhead!" The house seemed more empty when it's just the two of us.  Ryu and Aika aren't around at the moment, since they have left for America a little while ago. In fact, they left just yesterday. Something about Ryu wanting to see an 'old friend' who he hasn't seen in decades. I wonder who he really meant when he said that. Aika certainly didn't seem happy about leaving, that's for sure. "Don't be late you hear?" I call out to him as I left his room.

"Yeah yeah..." He sleepily said. I then left his home and went on my way.

*Thump* And he's back to sleep.

Busy busy busy.

You'd never know when new students would come to school, so you'd have to come by early. Putting on my smiling mask, acting nice, interact and befriend. If I'm lucky, I will get something, but that isn't always the case.
