Amaya's POV:

Wining from a dog is the first thing I hear in the morning. Zephyr must want out again, why must he interrupt my beauty sleep? I clumsily sit up and crack my eyes open, but for some reason I'm really not seeing Zeph anywhere, was I hearing things?

Wait... shit the dog. I hurriedly go to stand up and instead of standing, I find myself falling on the ground.

"Ow."

I quickly right myself and walk to the living room where I had set the dog down after tending to his wounds. He was still very unconscious so I left some water beside him throughout the night to drink if he had woke up.

The ninken was awake and looking around, too focused on his surroundings to notice me. I purposely coughed to get his attention; his head whipped around and he growled lowly at me.

"Is that really the way to treat the person who saved your life?" Honestly the dog probably would have died if Zeph didn't find him and bring him here. He had two kunai wounds, a broken leg, and three broken ribs, Dude was bleeding everywhere.

"I see, so you're the one who helped me," alright definitely a ninken, cool.

"Indeed, my names Amaya, it seems I'll be taking care of you for a while."

"My name is Biscuit, and thank you."

"Where exactly is your master?"

"He's out on a mission currently, and won't be back for a month." A month? Woe is me apparently.

"Well then the pleasures mine Biscuit." This is going to be a nuisance.

And to think I was right. Whoever this ninken belongs to sure does spoil this thing. Dude doesn't even eat dog food, he eats people food! What the hell, do I look like I'm made of money?

It's been a week and Biscuits kunai wounds are slowly healing, though he still can hardly walk because of his broken leg and ribs. Right now though I'm on my way back into the village to see Naruto and have a long conversation with the Hokage. Biscuit is inside a small backpack that I'm carrying because he didn't want to stay at the house alone, since Zeph was somewhere in the woods.

I got to the dramatic as always gates of Konaha and swiftly went to Naruto's apartment. When I got there though there was a note on the door telling me that he had gone on a mission and won't be back for some time. Well there goes my entertainment. Guess I have to go speak to the Hokage sooner then I wanted.

The walk wasn't a long one, but the stairs to his office sure are, who came up with that design?

I knock once and hear a come in. The Hokage is where he always is, behind his desk doing nothing. Dude really needs to go outside or something, get some sun, maybe even a tan?

"Mhh, what can I do for you Amaya?"

"Well since you asked so kindly, let's start off with this." I take the bag off and slowly and gently lift the ninken out. "I'd really like to know who's this is," the Hokage looks shocked for a moment, until he gets a slightly devious look in his yes.

"Ahh, Biscuit. Your master sure is worried about you. They actually sent a message to me frantically explaining that he lost you, and that you were injured."

"So you do know whose he is?"

"I do."

"Ok who?"

"Mmhhh."

"Old man just tell me."

"Alright alright. He's Kakashi Hatakes ninken." He's that pervs ninken, really? Which means he's on a month long mission and can't get his dog, which also means that Naruto is also going to be gone for a month. "And it seems he is very well off in your care."

"Whoa now, hold up. I never said I'd be taking care of him any longer. Have the Inuzukas do it, they specialize in it for a reason."

"Now now Amaya, he seems quite content to have you take care of him. Right Biscuit?" Oh so that's how you're gonna play this game? That's messed up.

"Indeed Hokage-sama, I am quite happy with this girl." This, this dang dog and stupid Hokage. I don't want to have to do this. I'm busy as it is.

"Well that seems to solve that problem. What else can I do for you?" The room suddenly grows tense, and I can feel my face turn blank.

"Well I wanted to address a problem that I have come across in your village."

"A problem?"

"Yes a huge problem in fact."

"Well by all means tell me so I can get it fixed."

"Well the other day I stumbled upon the Kyubi boy bruised up and a little bloody. Kid said he hadn't done any real missions so it couldn't have been that. So I naturally and rightfully assumed the worst, that the village had taken their anger and hatred of the Kyubi out on the innocent boy who didn't ask to be the conduit of a demon. Plus the said boy is living in a shitty apartment in the red light district. Why on earth would you allow either of those things to be happening to a child? What is wrong with you?"

"I understand your concern, each of those things shall be addressed. So you know, I was unaware of either of those things, I will do something about it when he returns from his mission."

"You'd better. I have half a mind to take the kid myself. He doesn't deserve any of the shit that has happened to him, non of it is his fault. He needs stability, caring for, and kind words, someone he can talk to. Clearly you are not giving that to him, and so I'm requesting that you give guardianship of him to me." The Hokage doesn't make a sound for the next couple of minutes, staring at me in shock. I may hate kids, but that doesn't mean they deserve to be treated horribly.

"No, I can not allow that. He's not allowed to leave the village unless it's with a high ranking shinobi." A sigh escapes my mouth, I can't believe I'm doing this for a kid.

"What if I become a shinobi again, though I'd only be willing if I went back to my same status."

"You'd... you'd be willing to become a shinobi again? Even after the promise you made? And you'd do it for Naruto?"

"Yes, I would."

"Then I guess I can't argue with you." He opens one of the drawers to his desk and pulls out a black shinobi headband. "I've kept a hold of this for years in hopes that you'd rejoin the ranks. Welcome back Jounin Amaya." I grab the headband and loosely tie it around my neck.

"I can't say it's good to be back Hokage-sama."
