Realizations

Amaya's POV:

  It's finally come the time for the final part of the Chunin exams. Kids fight one on one in front of a crowd and certain spectators decide whether or not they become Chunin.

It's a bit weird but I guess it works well? There are a few Genin this year who might have a chance, but I'm afraid very few from Konaha will make it, as I previously mentioned, they're too naive.

I'm currently posted near the Hokage for backup just in case anything goes awry. Though what could go wrong?

I'm a total idiot, I should have known I'd jinx myself. We've been attacked, the kazakage turned out to that damned snake, and now they're attempting to overtake Konaha. Not that it'll work, but I suppose trying is all that matters.

I really should have thought my position through, since I was guarding the Third, I also got stuck in Orochimaru's strange contraption. I'm also currently watching the Hokage lose, which is kinda funny, but I'd be charged with treason if I just stood here and watched him get killed. I grab two kunai's and jump in the middle of the two fighting, pushing Orochimaru back.

"Hokage-sama, are you alright," I question while staring the bastard snake down.

"Amaya? I didn't know you got stuck in here, and yes I'm fine. You should try to stay back. I'll handle this."

"I thought about that, but I don't want to be exiled. So I guess I'm going to help instead." This is a horrible idea, I'm not strong enough to take on Orochimaru at his full strength. I suppose we could attack together, but I don't know how well I trust the Hokage to be honest.

"As you wish, we should attack together then."

"Seems so."

"Are you two done chatting? I don't have all the time in the world you know." The Hokage and I make eyes contact and rush at the snake on opposite sides.

The fight has been going on for awhile, I'm starting to get tired. The moment I let my guard down slightly I'm roughly stabbed with a kunai, a katana swiftly following after. That's no good, that thing is dangerous, if that hits me I'm done for, for sure. At the last moment I'm shoved into the shear wall, the breath gets knocked out of me and I barely see the katana piercing the Hakage through his middle.

Lying on my side on the ground the only thing I can do is lay and watch as the Hokage performs the Reaper Death Seal, only being able to seal the snakes arms before he loses his chakra. I lose consciousness quickly after Orochimaru leaves with his posse, I hope I don't bleed out.

Kakashi's POV:

  The invasion was not something I was expecting.

When the Genjutsu was suddenly placed on everyone, I was quick to release myself from it. As were any other ninja near me. The enemy wasn't very strong, Gai even made it a game. When we finished the last few off we were quick to realize that the Hokage was in trouble, both of us took off in his direction.

Neither of us could get past the invisible wall that had been placed, but both of us could see what was happening, and I for one was nervous. Amaya had gotten trapped in there as well and her and the Hokage were fighting Orochimaru. She shouldn't be in there, what if she gets hurt? Oh god, please don't get hurt.

I unfortunately had to leave Gai to figure it out, there were others who still needed help. Hopefully Amaya is fine by the time I return to find her. I don't need her dying on me too, I care about her too much for that.

The siege was over quickly, but there was an even bigger problem. The Hokage had died, which means the village is unstable. It also means that Amaya could very well be dead and I'd have no clue right now. God I'm freaking out, I need to get there quickly.

I rush towards the building I left everyone on and arrive in time to see some people carry off the Hokages body. I look back and forth hopeing to find Amaya standing around, but it's crushed the moment I see her body on the ground surrounded by medical nin.

I go to rush over to her when someone grabs my wrist, I turn back to see Gai holding me back.

"Gai let me go, why are you stopping me?"

"Just wait Kakashi, she'll be ok."

"But...," I let out a sigh and go lax, causing him to hesitantly let go. "What happened?"

"They were saying something about a kunai wound, it shouldn't be too bad." The group of medical ninja suddenly stand up and carry her off on a stretcher, I stop one of them and ask if she'll be ok.

"Uhh, right now it's touch and go. The wound hit a vital point and were trying to keep her stable so we can perform surgery at the hospital." My hand falls away from the strangers arm and I suddenly feel very nauseous. What if she dies? What am I going to do then, oh god, I can't live without her. She's the love of my life and I never even got to tell her.

The nauseous feeling paired with my sudden exhaustion slowly makes me lose my footing, causing me fall backwards. I hit the ground roughly, but to me it barely felt like a thing. I can hardly hear what anyone is saying, I think they're yelling at me? My vision of the people hovering over me goes blurry; yeah, I'm definitely passing out.

Where I am I right now? And why is the bed so hard? Oh yeah, that's right, I passed out in front of a medic. That's why it smells horrible, they must have brought me to the hospital.

I slowly open my eyes and sit up roughly, completely disorienting myself, I need to find Amaya. I quickly remove any and all medical related objects from my skin, and push myself up off the bed. The sound of the door slamming open startles me, medical nin rush in and grab me, stopping me from leaving the room.

"Mr. Hatake, you need to stay in here and rest. Your chakra is severely depleted and you're exhausted."

"No! I need to see her! Where is she!" I shout while struggling against their holds; I need her.

"Mr. Hatake, calm down. If you calm down we can get you information on who you're looking for." I let out a sigh and go limp in their holds. They set me on the bed and reattach everything I'd torn off. "Now who is it that you're so worried about?"

"Amaya... I don't know of her last name. She came in with a fatal kunai wound."

"Oh Amaya Ito, yes she's here."

"Is she doing ok!?"

"Yes she's doing great. She made us through her surgery with no complications." That's relieving to hear, I'm so glad she's ok.

The medical ninjas soon left after checking everything to make sure I was properly set up. They never did tell me when I'd be able to see her. I need to see her soon, I'm getting anxious just from being away from her.

She's everything I've ever hoped for in a woman, and the moment I realized I might lose her, I about lost it. I would have lived my entire life in regret, not ever having told her that I love her, and want to be with her. Everything about her is flawless, her entire being is made to perfection. Me being with her will no doubt taint that, but I can't help myself anymore, I need to be with her.
