friends deleted scene number one — bruh

Michael could hear the back door open and close, the glass sliding. He sat in the living room, still facing the archway that Clémence would walk past in any moment thinking she got away with it.

The green-haired girl walked past on her tiptoes, not noticing the living room light on. Mike coughed, raising his eyebrow as she jumped and looked at him.

“Don’t scare me like that!” She yelled, holding a hand to her chest.

“Oh, don’t scare you? You mean like going to my daughter’s bedroom to check on her at two in the morning, and finding her not there? You mean that kind of scare?” He recited, crossing his right leg over his left.

“Nah, I was thinking more of a human being being in a place you didn’t think they’d be,” Clémence called back, a smile lasted upon her pink lips.

“Clémence, this isn’t funny. Where were you?!” His tone was sharp and crisp, something neither Clifford has heard leave his mouth.

“Do you really think I’m going to just come out and tell you where I was? This isn’t a movie, Dad.” She started to walk away, heading up the wooden stairs to her bedroom.

Michael turned off the living room light, following her up the stairs and into her room. By the time he was in the baby blue room, she was in a pajama shirt and shorts, plugging in her phone in computer.

“We weren’t done. It’s 3:40 in the morning, you have school in three hours, where were you?” He asked again, placing a hand on his hip, a stern look casted upon his face.

“Out,” she responded, tucking herself into bed.

“Why do you reek of smoke?” Michael continued to question, already knowing the answer.

“‘Cause I’m hot.”

Michael rolled his eyes, trying not to laugh. He knew that would only encourage her behavior. “I’m going to call Mom if you don’t tell me where you were,” he threatened, pulling out his phone.

“You wouldn’t,” she gasped, sitting up in bed.

Michael pulled up Rosie’s contact, a number he never uses more than once a month. He showed Clémence the contact, his finger itching over the call button, “Do you wanna bet?”

“I was on the beach, I wasn’t doing anything bad. I was barely one hundred meters from the house,” she confessed, laying back on her bed, “I took your matches and lit a fire on one of the pits. I just wanted some peace and the beach was relaxing.”

Michael clicked off his phone, putting it back in his pocket. “Do you promise that was it?”

“Yes, Dad,” she promised. Clémence was smart enough to know lying to him was no use, their relationship was something others wished for.

Mike sat on the end of her bed, placing a hand over his eyes, “I hate you for making me stay up worrying. Don’t do that shit ever again.”

C smiled, the shadow of Michael casting a comfortable glow in her room, “I’m sorry.”

He stood up, turning off her light and pressing a kiss to her temple, “I’m still making you go to school tomorrow.”

“Fuck!” She swore, hoping she got out of their charter school.

“Love you!” Michael called, already half way into his room.

“You, too,” she groaned.
