Luke was dreaming of his parents. He saw his mother. With her long, blond hair, light skin and dark green eyes. She was talking to him.
"Luke, I'm so proud of you. Remember, I love you. No matter what happens in the future, never forget about me." She said to him, His father walked in.
"Luke, I always knew you were meant for greatness. You will do great things, I know it. Never forget who you are. Never forget your heritage." he said. Luke's mother stroked his cheek. His parents began to fade away.
"No, don't go!" He screamed after them.
"Never forget who you are." His father repeated.
"Don't leave me! Not again."
"We love you." His mother said before they faded away entirely. A crash woke Luke up.
"No!" He screamed. Luke looked around as he tried to remember where he was. Slowly, yesterday's events came back to him. His parents' death, the Partnering, the egg at his feet, being told he could live at the manor. There was another crash. Luke opened the outer curtains of the window seat. A small body jumped in with him. It was his Griffin. The egg had hatched. He picked up the baby Griffin and examined it. It was female. He looked at her face. She was gold except for a black moon on her forehead. He looked at her eyes. They were blue. That was not normal. Yet again he wasn't normal. He got partnered with an egg when he was only 12. He'd done the impossible. The unheard of! Something that had never been done before. Something that was not supposed to happen. Just how different was he? Someone knocked on the door.
"Yes? Maggie?" Luke called.
"Try again." Said someone on the other side.
"My lady? I thought you didn't like me?"
"There you go. I figured you're okay. Call me Isabella. May I come in?"
"Just a minute." Luke set the Griffin aside, got off of the window seat, and got into the clothes he wore to dinner the night before. Then he let Isabella in. She looked at his clothes.
"You wore those yesterday." She said,
"They're the only clothes I have." Luke said. The Griffin stuck her head out of the curtains. Her blue eyes focused on Isabella.
Why is that thing's eyes blue? Isabella's voice said, but her lips didn't move.
"Do you know how to talk without moving your lips?" He asked.
"No. Why would you ask that?"
"I thought I heard you ask why my Griffin's eyes were blue."
"No, I... thought that! You're a Telepath!"
