Luke found a high point to speak.
"The Head Crow is dead. The Crows are over!" He said. The fighting stopped. "If you don't believe me, see for yourself." He pointed toward where The Head Crow's body was. He spotted the Earl coming over to where he was. He stood next to Luke.
"All Crows have one chance to leave the city, and never come back or try to take over any more cities. If they don't, they will be arrested." He said, putting his hand on Luke's shoulder. All The Crows scattered. The Earl turned to Luke.
"I'm proud of you." He said. "You saved our home." He embraced Luke. when he pulled out of the hug, he noticed Luke's ears.
"What's up with this?" he asked, indicating the points.
"Apparently, I'm an Elf." Luke explained. He didn't tell him about him being the heir to the Elven throne, because he might not stay that way. The Earl helped him to the healer to get his leg taken care of.
Then Luke led them to Eclipse, who needed help because she was hurt. The healer determined that Eclipse's wing was broken. Luke kept her calm while the healer set and splinted her wing. Luke spoke with his friends, and they decided that those who were not from Everglade would go and meet Diamianus and Slade. Then the people of Everglade worked to put out the fires so they could rebuild. Luke wasn't able to help because of his leg, so he sat with Eclipse.
Wing hurts. She complained. Hurts bad.
It's going to, just like my leg. He told her.
You have medicine. She said.
The medicine I was given by the healer hasn't worked. He told her.
You have medicine. She repeated, indicating the bag Slade's father had given him. Luke grabbed it and looked through the bottles of medicine. He found a medicine meant for pain. He took it. After a few minutes, the pain faded, then disappeared entirely. He sighed, grateful for the relief. He heard Eclipse make an unhappy sound.
If I could give you some, I would. He told her. She turned her head to look at him. He rubbed her moon. she put her head against him.
Love you. She said.
I love you too. He replied. He leaned into her feathers and fell asleep.
When he woke up, he found his friends there. He sat up from where he'd fallen away from Eclipse's side. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
"Everything alright?" he asked sleepily.
"All of Everglade has burned. We have to rebuild the whole city." Korman said. He seemed off. "The forest is still on fire and that's our only source of wood." Luke stayed quiet. He'd lost another home. He tried to think of a solution, but none came. Then, it came to him. They could use stone. It would take longer, but it would protect Everglade from burning again. If they went ahead of the fire, they could get wood for the inside frames of the house. He'd read about a mixture that would help stick the rocks together. He stood up and limped into town.
