"What I'm getting from this is that your clan only falls in love once in your life and for Chiasa-nee, sensei is that one love," summarized Sakura from Sasuke's rather confusing explanation of a Blessed One slowly.
"Hn."
"But what if the Blessed One falls in love with someone else? Or if they turn out to be abusive and violent? Is the Uchiha forced to be with them for the rest of their life without chance of a new beginning?"
The pink-haired girl frowned heavily, clenching her hands. The idea of one true love sounded beautiful but only in stories. Reality was something completely different. Humans could be so cruel; she was reminded of that fact every time she looked at Naruto. The blond protected Konoha each and every day by keeping the Biju sealed away, even so he was hated and despised by the majority of the people, shinobi and civilian alike.
Shaking his head, Sasuke hesitantly explained: "Not exactly. The Uchiha are not forced to stay with their Blessed One. There have been cases in the past were the Blessed One did not prove worthy of the name, though it has been a long time."
Glancing warily through the room, Sasuke shifted nervously in his place in the pillow nest they had built on one of the now empty hospital beds. It was still strange to talk about his clan so openly, usually he only had his sister, and he didn't need to explain their culture to her. What he was telling his packmates were considered clan secrets and normally only shared with a Blessed One in front of the Clan Head. And though he trusted his pack fully, those secrets were not for Konoha to hear.
"Don't worry, teme. My seals are still untouched," reassured Naruto the Uchiha as if reading his thoughts.
Letting out a small sigh, he sank back into the pillows, thinking carefully about his next words. How could he explain a concept that was so obvious to him?
"If a Blessed One is violent or abusive towards to Uchiha, the clan intervenes, separating them. They used to cut off the fingers of the abusive partner as punishment, I think. However, the Uchiha usually succumbs to madness over time, most of the time choosing to end their own life than continuing to live without their Blessed One by their side."
"Chiasa-nee will kill herself if Kakashi-sensei doesn't accept her?!" exclaimed Naruto horrified, leaping up and halfway out of the window before Sasuke caught his ankle, pulling him back down.
"Baka!" he hissed, glaring irately. "Nee-san wouldn't do that! Listen to the end before you jump to conclusions!"
"I have a question," said Sakura, lifting her hand like she was still in the Academy.
Nodding, he told her to continue.
"Did your explanation only cover a relationship between an Uchiha and a Blessed One from outside of the clan or between two Uchiha as well? And what if an Uchiha's Blessed One is married?"
"No Uchiha would ever lay a hand on their Blessed One," stated Sasuke, his voice not allowing any room for questions.
"But what if-"
"No, Sakura."
Staring at his packmate frustrated, the Uchiha tried to make her understand.
"This is just something you have to accept; an Uchiha doesn't ever lay a hand on their Blessed One. Never. They literally can't defend themselves if their Blessed One is from an enemy clan. To answer your other question, if the Blessed One doesn't feel the same, it completely depends on their character. And I think you misunderstood me a bit wrong earlier. It's not love on first sight – or very rarely – we take time before declaring someone a Blessed One. We fall in love like everyone else, but for us there's only that one."
