Two days later Tsunade arrived in Iwa with a Jounin squad and walked steadfast into the hospital, demanding to be led to her shinobi.
Oonoki met her halfway, leaning on a crane as he glared at the blonde Kage.
"Tsuchikage." Tsunade bowed politely, her ANBU following swiftly. "Thank you for treating my shinobi. Konoha will compensate you for any problems you may had."
"Compensate?" growled Oonoki indignantly. "How will you compensate for the mental scars my shinobi received after being faced with that monster. What about the civilians that saw one man single-handedly storm our village? How will you compensate for their loss of safety?"
Inhaling deeply, she resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of her nose.
"A Yamanaka therapist will be free to treat your shinobi if you wish so. About the loss of safety, I can't compensate you, but Iwa is a shinobi village and always under the threat of an attack so I don't believe there's much I can do. We can talk about the details later but first I would like to see my shinobi and be informed about Chiasa's condition."
"The faster you disappear the better," muttered Oonoki under his breath as he waved a doctor over. "This is Doctor Nakamura, he is the Uchiha's main doctor and also the main surgeon who did the surgery. He'll answer all of your questions and lead you to her room."
"Thank you, Tsuchikage."
"I'll be in my office. Find me when you're done but keep the monster out of my sight."
With that, the old Kage limped away, followed by his ANBU.
"I apologise for my grandfather." Kurotsuchi bowed before the Hokage, sighing at her grandfather's behaviour. "It has been three tiring days and he's been swamped with complains from the civilians. Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Kurotsuchi. If you have any problems, you can come find me."
Nodding, Tsunade turned to the doctor, motioning for him to finally lead the way.
"It's an honour to meet you Tsunade-sama. Your book about the different medical operations and treatments is brilliant," gushed Dr. Nakamura as they walked down the hospital corridor.
"Thank you, what can you tell me about Chiasa's status?" inquired the blonde pushily.
Frowning, he flipped open his clipboard, pointing at some documents.
"It's not looking good, to be honest. We had incredible luck that she even survived the surgery. Her teammates said she received the fatal injury ten minutes before, so the amount of blood loss was very high. Additionally, her body was in a very poor state and already weakened from other minor injuries and exhaustion as well as sleep deprivation. Furthermore, I suspect that she has been under a lot of mental stress which also strained her body and made her more susceptible to give up. We had to resuscitate her twice during the surgery and almost lost her a third time four hours later. Slipping into a coma was a lucky strike in my professional opinion."
The cat ANBU behind Tsunade tensed, hand hovering above her katana. One of her comrades hastily held her back, shaking his head warningly.
"Continue."
"Ah, yes of course." Dr. Nakamura quickly continued, glancing warily at the ANBU. "In my opinion this is the best way for her body to recuperate without additional stress, however, it obviously bears the risk that she won't wake up again. The laceration has been healed the best we can, but medicine unfortunately isn't a subject we excel in. If it gets infected and she develops a fever, I'm afraid we may not be able to save her a fourth time."
Biting her lips tightly, Tsunade nodded soberly, taking the clip board from him, and reading it herself. What the doctor had said was indeed true. Chiasa's blood pressure was critically low, together with the amount of blood she lost before and during surgery, she was honestly impressed with Iwa's doctors.
