A guttural sound echoed through the air, one so full of pain and hurt it caused even the heavens to darken and weep in sorrow.

Horrified, Kakashi dropped to his knees next to Chiasa, hands trembling as they hovered above her, too scared to hold her. He couldn't breathe; starring aghast as more and more red spilled around her, tears broke through the walls he had built around his heart and he broke down, screaming and sobbing in pain and fear.

Behind him Sasuke took one look at his sister and fainted abruptly, Naruto being able to catch the skinny boy just in time and pressing him close to his chest. Inside his mindscape Kurama paced back and forth, growling at the kit to move.

"Sai!"

Sakura's scream tore the boy from his frozen state, and he hastened to the site, falling down next to the woman he called Kaa-san. Immediately his hands turned red as he frantically tried to stop the bleeding. Across from him, Sakura hectically pulled out a packet of bandages, pushing his hands aside to press the fabric down.

"We've got to stop the bleeding," whispered Sakura to herself, mind racing through everything she had learned about first aid.

The colour left her face when she looked closer, realising that even with all the first-aid knowledge she had, it wasn't something she could deal with. Nobody had ever told her how to heal or apply first aid on neck injuries and the one who might know was completely beside himself.

Locking eyes with Sai, the pale boy took over her part, applying as much pressure as he could. Meanwhile, she turned around, fingers clutching at her sensei's collar as she shook him wildly.

"Snapp out of it, sensei!"

"What's going on?!"

Out of nowhere, Kisame ran into the clearing, stopping abruptly when he noticed Chiasa on the ground and the feared copycat ninja weeping like a baby. Cursing loudly, he hurried to the site, taking one look at the injury, and cursing again.

"Hospital. She needs a damned hospital."

Frantically looking around, he pushed the pink-haired girl towards the cave, ordering: "Get our things, quickly. I'll deal with your sensei."

Thankful for being told what to do, Sakura hurried and left Kakashi to Kisame. The blue-skinned shinobi took one look at the inconsolable Hatake before slapping him across the face. Once. Twice. Until menacing mismatched eyes focused on him and he was faced with the monster.

"Get it together, Hatake. She's not gone yet; we can still save her. Iwa's only ten minutes away if we hurry," growled Kisame, skin prickling uncomfortable when the shinobi in front of him nodded slowly. "Good."

Turning back, he saw the girl carrying his and Chiasa's stuff, the jinchuuriki holding the youngest Uchiha and the last boy frantically stopping the bleeding.

"Use Samehada as a stretcher and put Chiasa on it. You – you're Sai, right? Anyway, you keep putting pressure on it, clear? Girl, jinchuuriki, try to keep up. Copycat, you and I'll carry the two."

Just seconds after the last word had left his mouth, they were on the way, breaking out of the forest and racing through the rocky terrain towards Iwagakure.

He wondered how they'd enter and if the Tsuchikage would be willing to offer healing for a Konoha shinobi but glancing at the team surrounding him he pushed those thoughts away, eyes settling on the pale woman. Chiasa couldn't die, not when her family was here, Kisame would look to it.
