It has almost been about a week since I have seen Berry. I wonder how she's doing at her new place. Is she liking it? I miss her. The funny part is, is that I never told her my really true feelings about her. My self-esteem has really been up and going because of her. Just thinking about her gives me that memory of when she was leaving.
"Carter, I have to go away...to another place because my parents don't have enough money to give me the care I need...but just remember, I'll always be with you even when I'm not present at the moment. Promise me something, meet me when I come back, okay?"
The tears were coming to my eyes again. I hated how she wanted to leave me. It's not fair! God, why do you have to be so mean to me! You took away everything from me!
"Carter, Berry's mom and dad wanted to talk to you. Come down here." My mom popped into my room.
"Yes, mamá." I responded to my mom.
I went downstairs trying to wipe away the tears. I hope they came here only to tell good news.
"Hello, Carter." Berry's mom greeted me. "This was sent to us yesterday. I thought you wanted to read it." She handed me a letter.
"Is this from..." I read it anyway. "Hey, this is for you." I noticed.
"There's another one in the back of that letter."
I read the other letter.
Dear Carter,
I'm sorry for leaving you behind. I hope you're not mad or anything at me. Don't worry though, I'm happy. If you were with me right now, I'll be even more happier than ever. I've met so many friends here in this village I am living in. I also met another boy. He acts just like you! Although, I think you're better at soccer than him. I really wish for you to stay with me. I could've introduced you to so many new people! I'll write another letter to you, please write me back one so that I can see what you're up to. Keep playing soccer!
Love, Berry
"Thank you for showing me this." I smiled, while trying to hold my tears.
"You can keep this if you want. It was really for you." Her mom told me.
"Thank you!"
"Your welcome. We'll come to you if there is another letter, or you can come to our house to give us a letter to her." Her dad informed me. Then they left.
I ran up to my room, got my soccer ball, and went outside. I haven't played soccer in a while because she left me. Now that I know that I can keep in touch with her, I've gotten my courage. The only thing was, I had no one to play with. I had no friends except the ones back at my old town. Berry was really my only, true friend.
I miss her.
