New Years

Gon's POV

"Hey Killua! We should watch the Yorknew City ball drop on TV!" I say, since it's almost ten, which means getting close to midnight! I'm excited for my plan!

"But it's only ten! We have until 12 to turn it on." Killua says, looking up from his phone.

"Well, get off your phone anyways. It's New Years!" I say.

"Whatever." Killua puts his phone down, and sits on the couch, way far from me.

"Come closer!" I don't want to sound desperate, but I need him to be close for my plan to work.

Killua blushes a little bit as he sits closer, our arms almost touching. "There. Good enough?"

"Yup!" Oh my gosh! He's so close! But I can't make it weird. I was doing my best to try to not freak out. If you haven't caught on by now, I like Killua. A lot. And I was hoping I could make my move tonight, to start the year off right.

Killua grabs the TV remote, and flips to the Yorknew City channel. (A/N: Yes, they have their own channel here.) He turns to face the TV, purposefully not looking at me.

"Hello folks! It's almost ten o' clock, which means we have a special 'two hours to go' performance for you!" The host says, and the camera switches to a stage.

The show continues, and I slowly, hopefully unsuspiciously, move closer to Killua. I bring my legs up to my chest, and now me and Killua are touching. Our arms are practically pressed against each other, and, with me being shorter than Killua, my head is almost leaning on his shoulder.

I make a move to put my hand over Killua's, in the small space between our knees. He moves his hand and says "I'm gonna get a drink." He stands fast and turns to the kitchen.

Ah! Maybe that was too fast? Did I ruin my chances? Maybe he doesn't feel that way. Oh no. I could've sworn I've seen him blush when we're close, but maybe I made it up.

Killua comes back, without a drink, so he probably just had a sip of something and left it in the kitchen. "Killua? Did I make you uncomfortable?" I ask. I have to know.

"With coming close?" He blushes when he looks right into my eyes.

"Yeah. I'm sorry if you didn't like that." I look down at my knees, still tucked up.

"No, it's fine, I think I interpreted it wrong." He surprises me by scooting closer himself this time.

"So I can be close to you? That's okay?" Please say yes!!

"Sure. If you want." He turns back to the TV; I'm able to tell his face is red even in the dark room.

I come closer, so our arms are together. I reach for his hand as we both pretend to watch the show. I hesitate right before I touch it, and then dart my hand forward fast. I wrap my hand around his forcefully, and then loosen a bit before I crush his hand. I hear him gasp and see him blush, but he doesn't look at me.

This is way more and way less scary than I thought it would be. That doesn't even make sense. Oh well. At least I know he doesn't not want me to touch him.

The show continues, and time passes until it's 11:59. Me and Killua have pretty much stayed in the same spot and were quiet the whole time, except for a few words about the show. Almost time! I'm excited!

"10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1!" The ball drops on screen as me and Killua and the TV people count down. I reach over with the hand not holding Killua's, and turn his face towards mine.

I kiss him on the lips, closing my eyes so I don't have to see his reaction, in case it's bad. I break away, and say "Happy New Year, Killua." We're both flustered.

"G-Gon! Um... Happy New Years." Killua leans in and we kiss again, a little longer this time. *Mental sigh* I'm so glad he feels the same. This is the best New Years ever! We break away and just blush and look at each other.

"To this year." Killua says, raising the hand that's holding mine.

"To this year, and to us!"
