(Based on the song 'Problems' by Mother Mother)(Kinda angsty, not fluffy)

Killua stood on the edge of the cliff, looking into the sunset. He and Gon were both there, one enjoying it, the other not so much.

"You and me, we're not the same. I am a sinner, you are a saint." Killua said.

"What do you mean Killua?" Gon asked, looking at him with confusion.

"When we get to the pearly gates, you'll get the green light. I'll get the old door in the face." Killua continued.

"Killua..." Gon was very confused at what was happening, but also intrigued.

"I'm a loser, a disgrace. I've found love in the strangest place." He laughed a little.

"Love? Where?"

"Tied up and branded, locked in a cage. I say I'm gonna stage a great escape. Let loose and love all. But baby we're out of place" Killua finally turned to look at Gon, a sad smile on his face.

Gon's face turned a bit pink at the word 'baby'. "What do you mean Killua? I don't feel trapped."

"I'm a loser, a disgrace. You're a beauty. A luminary, in my face." He took a step closer to the cliff edge.

"Come back from the edge Killua. You might fall..." Gon seemed to realize the meaning behind Killua's words and actions.

"I got it all, and not a lot, I got a lot less than a lot. I've got problems, not just the ones that are little. It's those people problems, it's something to consider." Killua turned away from the fading sun, facing the slowly panicking Gon.

"Killua. Stop whatever you're doing and tell me what's happening." He demanded.

"You see Gon, I have tons of problems. So many, I don't think I can handle them all. The biggest one, is you. I... I want to be more than friends, and I don't think you do."

"I- I..." Gon struggled to find a way to respond. Killua was right. Gon didn't know what it was like to want to be more than friends with someone. He's never fallen in love.

"What you can't seem to say. I'm a loser, a disgrace."

"Killua. That doesn't make you a loser. What's going on? Everything's been fine for so long..." Gon ignored the fact that Killua was backing up further. He was still trying to wrap his head around the idea of being in love.

"You're a beauty. A luminary in my face. I've got problems..." Step. "It's something to consider." Step. "I've got problems." Another step.

Gon's eyes misted. He knew what Killua was planning. "Stop, Killua. I'm sure we can work something out. Therapy, maybe?"

"Oh, Gon. If only you saw things the way I do." Killua laughed, face breaking into a watery smile.
"If only you saw yourself the way I saw you! You're an amazing friend! I can't lose you!" He wasn't sure how... what to say to bring Killua away from the edge, mentally and physically.

"I'm sorry. I can't keep this up for any longer." A tear slid down the left side of his face. A tear from Gon followed.

"It's okay! You can be sad! I can help you! You don't need to pretend to be happy all the time..."

"But it's not okay. I can tell from the jumbling of your words and how you've stayed far from the edge this whole time, that you don't know how to help." Killua said, looking at how Gon was 10 feet back.

"Will this really help anything though? Won't being with... me... be better than..." Gon was afraid to say the word 'dead'. He didn't want to.

"Not if I will just watch you slowly become farther and farther away from me, in all ways. You'll grow strong. You'll make friends, maybe become a well-known hunter. You might get a girlfriend, or leave me completely to travel the world."

"I won't! We can stay together!" Gon pleaded, not wanting to watch Killua... die.

"The thing is that you can try to keep us together, but you can't help it if I fall behind. I'll just hold you back. It'll be better if I'm gone." Killua leaned back.

"No! Stop! Please!" Gon reached his arm forward, taking a couple steps.

Killua locked eyes with him, before taking a deep breath. "Bye Gon."

"Stop moving!" Gon ran forward, lashing out with both hands, trying to see through his tears. He stopped right in front of the cliff edge, grabbing Killua's hand as Killua leaned back more.

Or so he thought.

Their fingers just barely brushed, since Killua was holding his hand out too. He was now plummeting down, towards the ocean.

"No!" Gon's tears dripped down his face as he fell to his knees, watching Killua disappear. If only he had acted faster, understood the situation faster, been more convincing, ANYTHING!

Anything would've helped instead of what he did. Gon and Killua's eyes met once again, even though this time, Killua was halfway down a cliff.

Goodbye. Killua whispered, hoping maybe Gon could read his lips. Gon could, and this just made him cry harder.

He knew he couldn't save him. He wanted too, he really did. But right below was the ocean, and there was no way to get down the cliff fast enough.

Could he... die with Killua? In his haze, he could hardly think straight. Gon didn't know what he wanted to do.

Killua's body was nearing the water. Then... it impacted. It happened so fast. First, the contact. Then, the pain. All over. And finally, submersion.

He was almost unconscious from the impact alone, and the pain was overwhelming. Breathing out, he replayed all his time with Gon in his head.

Meanwhile, Gon was full-on sobbing. He heard the sound of Killua's body hitting the water. He saw the splash, and the bubbles of Killua exhaling for the last time. He watched the water for any sign of life.

It was about a 100-foot drop. That might not sound like a lot, but the lethal distance is 50 feet.

The time Killua and Gon were running together in the Hunter Exam. When Gon had to rescue Killua from his own family. When they met Zushi and learned Nen. When he went to Whale Island, and saw Gon's home, and then they started gathering money for Greed Island. And so many more.

Killua knew his life was fading, and was surprised he was still even alive at all.

"KILLUA!" Gon screamed to the sunset. The sun was almost gone as well, as if it was a timer for Killua's life.

"NOOO!" He screamed more and more, voice cracking. He threw his head back, just screaming.

Screaming through the pain. The emotion. Numbing everything.

After five or so minutes of screaming, his voice became dry, and his throat hurt. Hanging his head, he closed his eyes letting the rest of the tears fall silently.

Gon knew he should've done something different. There must've been something else he could've said to Killua to stop him.

But it doesn't matter now. He's gone.

He stood. Taking a last look at the sun, he turned away from the cliff. He walked slowly through the forest, trying to make it to Aunt Mito's house.

He started walking faster. Faster. Tearing through the trees and plants, pushing them aside, scraping his shins as he tried to break through the mental and real barriers, like some nightmare.

Suddenly, a tree root tripped him. Gon flew through the air, and slammed, hard, down on the ground. For a second, he just lay there.

Then, he attempted to get up, but collapsed due to the trembling of his hands and feet. Defeated, Gon breathed in the harsh tang of dirt, leaves, and sweat.

Taking a moment to breathe in the cleansing of the forest, Gon tried to still his shaking limbs. He couldn't.

He could not calm the trauma his body was going through. And so, with the last images he had of Killua flashing past his vision, he gave up, settling among the earth.
