Broken Ice and Cold Snow (Frieda x Ivan)

It was winter up in Russia as the cold wind stormed over mountains and hill sides not showing any signs of stopping as it made it harder for people and engines alike to get around. If it wasn't the piercing cold it was the heavy snow or ice keeping them from getting home or doing their jobs properly.

Ivan was currently stuck working up on mountain Kukurtli-Kolbashi, shunting trucks of ice, rock and other mixed things. The Mountain always showed no signs of peace towards the engines who worked up there during the winter seeing the countless derails and other misshapes but Ivan and a couple other selected engine's was the only ones fit for the job.

Ivan knew the risks of being up so high on a mountain such as that one but he also knew that the job needed to be done or else it would coast some one else's life if it was even slightly done wrong. He was nearly done and was looking forward to leaving to meet Frieda down at the Station not far from the bottom of the Mountain.

Frieda was sent to work in Russia for a bit to help things out seeing that her own railway was doing smoother then the one Ivan was on which was obviously saying some thing. Ever since she arrived they've been meeting each other at the same station at the same time since Frieda's passenger route ends at that station.

Ivan was careful as he slowly shunted the remaining truck into a small yet long load of other trucks before slowly backing away to rest for a moment. He had been working almost all afternoon not once taking a break unless he needed to be refueled. Though he was in no hurry to leave he kept his eye on a corner part of the mountain that was right above the site he was at.

There had been numerous amounts of reports of Avalanches in that exact area since the last time they had weather this bad; and since the site was at a narrow curved part of the Mountain, it didn't help them at all seeing how if the wind so much as dared to blow the wrong way it could start one so quickly.

Ivan was done for the day, to his relief as he slowly made his descent down the mountain still slightly covered in snow and ice from being up in the mountain's for so long. It wasn't until he got to the station and stopped next to one of the giant heaters they had hanging up on the roof did he finally relax.

The heaters helped melt the snow off of anything that was still in the station and it kept anyone in the station warm such as himself and others. While he waited for Frieda to arrive he couldn't help but look over at one of the old tv's that was setting at the cafe shop not far next to him at the entrance of the station.

The broadcast announced that the storm would continue on in the area and until further notice it was best that people not go up into the mountains or hill sides unless absolutely necessary. One of his drivers who was also watching, huffed in annoyance.

"Unless absolutely necessary my ass, we've been up on those mountains for 3 days now and almost froze to death up there to!" He said crossing his arms. Ivan couldn't help but chuckle. "It's true but at least we aren't up there during the nights…" Ivan said looking down at his buffers.

"True.. I heard it gets more cold up there at night then of the morning…" his driver added setting on the platforms bench next to Ivan. The station wasn't large nor was it small. It only had 3 lines. One near the entrance that lead into the city and 2 over towards the side that lead into the country roads.

The station is-self looked like a little version of Knapford but more sealed up incase of winters like these, each corner of the station had heaters for the winter and fans of the summer so while passengers wouldn't have to wait while fighting the weather.

Ivan yearned to sleep as much as possible once he got to his shed and he could tell that his driver was too seeing him nearly fall sleep on the bench multiple times just from the little time they was there. It wasn't until a loud familiar whistle startled the two causing his driver to twirl around and back right into Ivans side vent grabbing onto his side rail.
