A bit deeper in the Diaz family house Marco and Jackie were cluttered next to a small closet. Marco was halfway in the cupboard, rummaging through all the housekeeping necessities. The boy pulled out a broom and a bucket.
"A shovel will be better," Jackie suggested grabbing the bucket out of Marco's hand.
"Yeah, you're right, and we need bags, lots of bags." Marco dived back into the closet.
"When we finish, your trashcan will be all jello. Just imagine how confused the neighbours will be."
"It's not the weirdest thing that ended up in my garbage," Marco explained retreating from the closet with a shovel and a full roll of trash bags.
Jackie snickered as the two kids moved to the kitchen. "What's the weirdest?"
"Well," Marco pondered, "One time Star was trying to create a warnicorn, I think. And well it had the shape of a horse, but it was a sponge."
"What's a warnicorn?" Jacky squinted.
"From the sponge, it looked like a buff unicorn?"
"Oh god no," the blond started snickering. "That had to be so confusing."
"Yeah, neighbours had a lot of questions," The boy smirked. "But it's fun." Marco looked through the kitchen window. Outside Star was enthusiastically explaining something to Janna and Gloss. A warm smile spread on the boy's face, as a blush coloured his brown cheeks.
Jackie stared at Marco her heart falling to her stomach as a horrible thought crossed her mind. "What's with that smile, all of a sudden?" Jacky asked with a cheerful voice, a tinge of fear eluding the boy she was toking to.
"It's nothing, just isn't Star the most awesome person you have ever met?" Marco said dreamily.
"Well, yeah, she's a princess from another dimension that can do magic. Of course, she's awesome. Although the little blue lady might be catching up," Jackie tried to joke hiding her uneasiness.
Marco shook his head. "It's not just that. She's the most brilliant person I have ever met. And she is so cute on top of that..." Marco stopped, his face turning red.
Jackie stared at the boy, her fears playing out in front of her. But the blond smiled. "You like Star, don't you," Jackie muttered more to affirm this to herself.
Marco nodded. "Please don't tell her."
"Sure," Jackie said. She was torn. Her best friend was in love. He looked so happy. But it wasn't her.

A black trash bag fell to the ground its content wiggling menacingly. Marco accompanied the bag, by plummeting onto the ground. "We're finished. All the banana jello is packed."
Jackie dropped next to Marco throwing the jello covered shovel away from her. "I don't want to eat. NO. See any jello EVER."
"I'm going to have nightmares about this stuff," Marco complained staring at his hand. "Jello is gonna chase me like one of those slasher villains."
"Wobble, wobble," Jackie said, menacingly gesturing her hands.
The kids burst into laughter.
"Thank you, guys. You are the best," Star kneeled next to the two on the grass. She handed both of them bottles of water.
"Thank you," Marco grabbed his bottle gulping the entirety of its contents. "You are a saviour."
"Well, I am technically the reason for this." Star smiled guiltily.
"Star!" Janna screamed through the yard. She and Gloss were cluttered next to the book of spells. Janna was intensely scribbling in the geography notebook she sacrificed for spell notes. "What type of spells do you have an easier time casting?"
Star pondered.
Marco scowled annoyed. "Could you be quiet? People who actually worked are exhausted."
"Well excuse me if you are tired from work that any common brute can do. I'm actually trying to help my friend." Janna frowned.
"Yeah sure, you can do a lot by stuffing your nose in that book."
"If Star gets better at magic, you won't need to clean that stuff again."
"She has a point," Star said smiling awkwardly.
"Star for once be on my side," Marco pouted.
"Sorry," Star smirked. "And I think it's easier for me to cast spells that are less abstract. That take shapes of objects, maybe." The princess answered Janna's question.
"Then what about." Gloss snapped her fingers. The book's pages flipped quickly. "We take a look at Crescenta the Hesitant's chapter. She wrote a lot of object themed spells."
"That should work." Star ran to the book of spells. "But make sure it's something more complicated than what I can cast."
Janna squinted. "Wait, Star, you can cast some spells?"
"Well, only simple spells. They are pretty but not really impressive."
"But you still can. Then why is your dad on your back?" Janna asked.
Gloss side. "River does not count those spells."
"Father says they don't count because they don't do anything useful. He thinks they aren't real spells," Star explained playing with her hair.
"That sounds like a lot of bull crap," Janna declared.
"Because it is," Gloss affirmed. She tapped her finger on the page. "How about 'Moonlight arrow.' It's a simple projectile spell that takes a form of an arrow. Pretty self-explanatory."
Star nodded grabbing the book. "It does not look complicated, I think I can do this."
"Grate," Gloss nodded. She snapped her fingers and a simple target shot out from underneath the grass.
Star stud up lining herself right in front of the target. She took a deep breath.
"You can do it, Star!" Marco shouted.
"Thank you," Star smiled. She placed her legs at the wit of her shoulders. Her wand in front of her the crystal pointing forwards. "Moonlight arrow," The princess declared. The crystal moon sparked to life and a silvery arrow formed a bit above the wand. With a simple flick of the sceptre, the arrow dislodged of its place. The arrow flew to the target. Its trajectory swift and steady. But right before the arrow hit the target it burst into a small cloud of silvery glitter.
"It disappeared," Star said flabbergasted.
"What about we try a different spell," Janna suggested grabbing the book of spells.
"No, I almost had it," Star frowned determined. "Let me try a few more times."
