Its been three days since the death of Beau Abbott. If I had ran the slightest bit faster, it would've been me instead of him. Today we're meant to head out to the bridge and set up a memorial for Beau but honestly, i don't think i'm ready to go back there. I stood from the bench i was seated at just as Lee caught my attention. He quickly walked over to me and handed me a small backpack .

"Be ready in 30 minutes, we are leaving soon after noon." He signed, ready with his own bag. I just nodded my head, little emotion washing over my face. Before I walked away, he stopped me with a saddened smile.

"If you're not up to this-"

"I'm fine, I need to move past this. His death keeps distracting me and i'm sick of it." I signed rather quickly. I wasn't sure if he understood what i said or not, but i was hoping he didn't. By the shocked but angry look on his face, i'm pretty sure he did. GREAT. Those words just came out of my mouth, they weren't what i was thinking at all.

Lee sighed, clearly disappointed. He turned in his place and strolled toward the barn. I tried to grab hold of his wrist to apologise but he pulled it out of the way. If i hadn't of caught myself, i would have fallen making a shit ton of noise. My head hung low, i was largely frustrated with myself. First I wasn't fast enough and now I basically insulted Beau's death, how stupid am I. I looked up to the blinding sun, midday had just past. I turn foot and trudged up the path to the barn, I saw Lee and Evelyn staring at me while signing but I chose to ignore it.

Evelyn POV

I just finished taking down the laundry, a basket held firmly at my side. I noticed [y/n] try to grab Lee's arm but he moved it out of the way almost making [y/n] fall. This angered me a little, why did he treat her like that? It better have been an accident. Placing the basket of clothes at my feet, I caught up with Lee.

"What was that about?" i signed

"I think [y/n] still blames herself."

I thought for a moment, the way she's been acting since that day makes sense. [y/n] and Marcus would constantly be around each other but recently, she's been pushing him away.

"Maybe she shouldn't come with us." Lee signed

"No, she needs to. It will help her make peace with the past."

Lee smiled, visibly agreeing to what i had signed. I lightly turned his head to face [y/n].

"Will she be okay?" I mouthed

"I'm sure she will, She is closest to Marcus. If she opens up to him, then maybe.. just maybe." Lee signed back.

We both watched her walk into the barn, likely packing things for the walk. I knew Lee was right, but what if she didn't know how to open up. After all she's been through, she probably just doesn't know what to say. I sighed, making my way over to the laundry basket so i could get ready for the journey.

Time skip, brought to you by laziness

y/n POV

I winced as a mixture of rocks and sand pierced my skin for the hundredth time today. Marcus came rushing up behind me, signing to ask if i was alright but i just shooed him away. His face saddened instantly as he fell behind his mother. I felt bad for pushing him away but i didn't know what else to do. All everyone does lately is ask if i'm okay and i never have an actual answer. What am I supposed to say, ' No i'm not because i'm likely an orphan, I killed my best friends brother and I have absolutely no idea what to do anymore.' Everyone already knows those details, there's no point repeating them. I felt a light tap on my back. Turning in the direction of the tap, I see Regan with a massive smile. She was holding out an apple in her palms, offering it to me. I was about to turn her down when i heard my stomach growl in hunger. That is so going to get me killed one day. I smile timidly and take the apple, moving my hand from my chin to the air below. She replied with 'You're welcome' and continued walking.

I slowed my movement as we reached the end of the bridge. Marcus paused behind me, reassuring me it would be okay. I just smiled and watched as Lee and Evelyn placed a cross right where Beau once was. Tears were brought to my cheeks as i reminisce that exact moment. I was only a hands length from Beau when that bastard of a Death Angel stole him forever. Cold washed over my face as look up from the dirty ground. Marcus was knelt in front of me, wiping my tear stained cheeks. His smile was so pure, even if tears lingered off the sides. He pulled me into a secure hug, tucking my head into the crook of his neck as i too fell to my knees. Eventually, he helped me to my feet. I couldn't help but notice a picture of Beau, asleep in my arms, was pinned to the very top of the cross. I met Evelyn and Lee's smile from behind the cross, they were in each others arms along with Regan in the middle.

My eyes widened when I remembered what I stuffed into my bag last minuet. I pried the material pocket from my back and knelt to the rough ground, leaving it behind as I approached the wooden memorial. In my hands, I carefully carried a plastic rocket. It was the only thing left behind when Beau was taken. I smiled to myself as I placed the rocket between a bunch of flowers. Lightly placing a kiss on my fingers and holding it to the wooden cross. Marcus shuffled behind me, followed by Lee, Evelyn and Regan.

Maybe, just maybe.. it is worth living another day.

AU- This chapter is kind of a filler. I just wanted to acknowledge Beau's funeral more since they didn't much in the movie. If there are any wording/spelling mistakes, please let me know. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter <3
