"[y/n].."
"[y/n] you have to get up,, you've been staring at the note for 30 minutes now."
I shook Marcus's hand off my shoulder.
Regan had left sometime in the night when everyone was asleep. Evelyn was the first to know, thanks to Marcus finding the note on the radio, then Lee and Emmett. None of them wanted to tell me as they thought I would ' react badly '. But who wouldn't, we may have had a disagreement with faults from both ends but.. she's my friend. I have to go after her."I'm going to find her." I blurted out, standing from my position.
"You can't go alone." Emmett said.
"But I can. It's safer if I go alone. All you guys need to do is stay silent when I'm gone."
"Okay say that you do go alone. How would you catch up to her?" Evelyn retorted. Her attitude was a surprise, but her child is missing so I can understand.
"Oh I don't know. Maybe I will catch a ride from one of the Death Angels. Shouldn't be too hard." I said, hints of sarcasm in my voice.
Evelyn rolled her eyes as Lee pulled her over to discuss options with Emmett. After a few wasted minutes, they came back over to fill me in.
"Okay, you will go." Emmett started "but, you are taking Marcus with you. Evelyn has to stay here with Clay and so do Lee and I to protect one another. We trust that you two will be safe." He finished.
I was shocked that they would let me go so easily, especially with Marcus.
"But, his leg-
"I'm fine [y/n]." Marcus said as he walked into the room.
"No you're not coming with me, you wouldn't last a day, let alone an hour on that leg. It's not even healed." I sighed. It's not that I didn't want him to come, it's just that he would injure his leg even more.
"[y/n], for once just shut up! This isn't up to you. Regan is my sister and I am going to follow you out there and make sure we find her. She wouldn't be out there if it weren't for you." He snapped at me. The way he spoke,, it did hurt a bit. Who am I kidding.. It hurt a lot.
"Are you kidding me right now? I'm not the reason she is out there alone. She would have gone out there anyway because she wants to be some hero. Well guess what, even hero's need help but she didn't want it. It's her fault she's out there alone, not mine. Regan could have easily come spoken to any of us but she was pathetic and couldnt admit to her wrongs." I spoke quickly towards the end, trying to say it all in one breath. I looked away from Marcus's eyes to see everyone's expressions. Emmett had his head down, as did Lee. However Evelyn was staring at me, her eyes wide and face full of disgust.
"How dare y"- Evelyn started but I cut her off.
"No. No. NO... no." I crouched, my hands pulling at my hair.
"No-" I said again. Standing and moving closer to Evelyn.
"HOW DARE YOU." I pointed at her, pushing at her shoulder so she stumbled back.
"You, and everyone else here have been so focused on Regan that not one of you have even thought about what she said to me that day. None of you have bothered to ask how I've been doing. NOT ONCE!! and now, the only person who I can love is going to get himself killed just to find his sister. God he probably hates me now since everyone here seems to think it's MY FAULT."- I paused, taking a seat on the concrete and holding my head in my hands. -" I get that you're worried about Regan. Okay Evelyn I understand. I have that feeling everyday."- I looked up to Evelyn and studied her face before continuing. -" it's like that sick nervous feeling you'd get in your stomach before talking to a large group of people on your own. It's like you've got a lump stuck in your throat. Okay? I get it. I've known that feeling ever since my mum and I were separated. But I bet all of you have forgotten about her haven't you? I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not even apart of your Family." I signed, wiping a few tears from my eyes and standing up.
I pulled my focus off the ground and looked around the room. The silence was loud and uncomfortable. Lee and Emmett were looking at the ground still. Only this time their shoulders hung low. Evelyn locked eyes with me. Her eyes full of regret and she face scrunched. I turned to look at Marcus but, he was already looking at me.
"[y/n]-" He started.
"Save it." I said bluntly.
"[y/n] I don't hate you." He said, his voice echoing through the room. I stopped walking away from him as he held a hand to my shoulder and slowly turned me to face him.
"[y/n] I fucking love you. No matter how many wrongs you make." He whisper yelled, making sure I heard him.
I smiled as he wiped the tears from my eyes.
"I love you too." I whispered. Marcus pulled me into a tight hug. He obviously didn't care what anyone thought right now, and neither did I.
"We need to get going if we're going to catch up to her." I mumbled into his neck.
He pulled away from me and walked towards the door. I turned to look at everyone as we left.
"We should be back in a few days." I said before we left completely.
~
Marcus and I had been walking for a couple hours now. The sun was bright as it lay in the sky. Shades of Grey and White stretched amongst the blue, giving us some cover from the heat. Orange and yellow leaves covered the ground wherever we went. I wiped the sweat from my forehead as I looked over Marcus's shoulder. He was holding a map in his hands. It was somewhat accurate for the path Regan said she would've been taking.
"We should catch up to her soon. She would have had to made a stop somewhere along here." Marcus said.
I just hummed a response as I was tired and didn't really know what to say. He slowed down a bit, allowing my to match his pace. Surprisingly, he was walking better than me considering his ankle. Marcus held an arm around my waist, helping me keep up with him.
"You know I meant what I said." He blurted out.
"You say a lot of things, which one do you mean." I retorted with a smile as He chuckled.
"When I said I love you. I meant it."
"I know. And so did-"
We both became silent as a loud gunshot rang out through the forest. I looked at Marcus to see him already looking at me. He pulled at my hand as we quickly, but carefully, made our way towards the sound. The forest soon cleared to reveal a large train station. My eyes scanned the area, nothing but abandoned suitcases, shoes, clothes and a train cart on the tracks.
Wait.. what is that..
My eyes widened and I tugged at Marcus's sleeve.
"There!" I pointed
