Wanna be friends?

Warmth drowned my face. Light seeped through my slightly opened eye lids. I quietly yawned as I sat up, resting my back against the back of the couch. I look to my left and see Evelyn preparing dinner and to my right are Marcus and Regan playing monopoly. I smile softly at Evelyn.

"Can you tell everyone that dinner is ready please [y/n]?" Evelyn signed

I just nod in response, deciding to find Lee first. I stood to my feet, wondering the house quietly looking for Lee. I hear the faint sound of water coming from the bathroom. My guess what right as I spot the tall man washing his face.

"Hey Lee, dinner is ready." I signed

"Thanks kiddo, I'll be out in a bit." He responds.

I see that look in his eye. His mind is clouded by thoughts, whether it be of Beau or something else. That's something I don't know. I've noticed he blanks out more than usual, his face full of nothing but twisted cries. I want to help him but what could I do.

I slowly made my way to the kitchen, tapping Marcus on the shoulder and guiding him to the dinning table. Regan was already seated as was Lee and Evelyn. I took my seat next to Lee and Marcus. Evelyn handed me a piece of cooked fish dished on a leaf of lettuce. I almost gagged at the sight of it. I absolutely hate fish, but it's hard to be picky when you live in a world like this.

I helped Evelyn wash up as Regan and Marcus continued their game of monopoly. It was a peaceful night, not a cloud in the sky. As I placed the last dish away, I felt an unusual pain in the palms of my hand. It was rather uncomfortable, it felt as if someone was pressing their lit cigarette bud against my skin. It scared me. I tuned to Evelyn, catching her attention with the fearful look in my eye.

"What's wrong?" She signed

"I- I don't know.. pain." Was all I could sign. With my hands in the state they were, it was difficult to move them.

It shocked me, I didn't know what was happening. I balled my hands into a tight fist. I needed something to distract me. I pressed my nails into my skin as hard as I could. A new pain taking over the old one, but atleast this pain was a given one. Evelyn frantically grabbed my hands, forcing me to realise my grip upon myself.

"What are you doing?" She signed, rather quickly.

I just stared at her, in disbelief. I don't know what happened but all pain was relieved from my palms. Evelyn was about to sign when we both heard a loud noise.

My head started spinning, I felt sick as I saw flames rise from the carpet. Lee rushed over to his kids, putting out the fire with a wet towel. My throat ran dry. I awaited for the Death Angels to arrive, surely they heard that. Everything was silent, Lee held a finger to his lips as he made his way to the window. Carefully he looked outside, to everyones surprise there was nothing but a raccoon.

Little did we know, we were being played with. The hunt had only just begun.

Marcus and I were always the last ones in bed. Today it seemed like he was a bit off, like his head was in the clouds. I sat silently on the edge of his bed. My hand accidentally brushing against his when I started to sign.

"You okay?"

Marcus - "Yeah, just nervous for tomorrow."

"What's tomorrow?"

Marcus - "Dad is taking me to catch fish but if I'm being honest, I'm scared.

"Well it's okay to be scared. I'm always scared, but that doesn't mean I should just sit at home and do nothing. I wouldn't be living this 'amazing' life."

I nudged Marcus, getting him to laugh a little. He quickly covered his mouth, thinking his laugh was too loud.

"Don't worry, I don't even think I heard that laugh properly." I smiled, atleast I cheered him up a bit.

Marcus - "Can you come with us?"

I was taken back by this, I never got to leave the house. Lee would always make an excuse as to why it was to dangerous for me.

"Sure, if Lee will let me."

Marcus - " I think he would, you always make me smile when I'm sad. That's a good reason for him to let you."

I couldn't help but blush.

"It's late, I should head to my room." I signed, moving off his bead.

I felt a tug at my arm, surprised I looked at Marcus.

"Can I come, I just- I don't think I can sleep tonight." Marcus signed.

I didn't see why he shouldn't, he's comfortable with me. I mean we have been friends for how many years now.  I just smiled, dragging him by the arm to my room. We set up a mattress next to my bed and I tuned on the small night light. He still looked a bit uncomfortable. I gently leaned over to him, quickly kissing his cheek.

"Sweet dreams Marcus." I signed.

He just looked at me in shock, heat rising to his cheeks. I grinned smugly and turned my back to him. My eyes saw nothing but black as I drifted into a world of dreams and nightmares.

I wonder what tomorrow will be like.

AU - Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I have a terrible case of writer's block. Any how, I will make up for my terrible writing in an upcoming chapter. I have something cool planned.
