"Yeah, I know! I'm a monster. We all vampires are monsters, if thats what you want to hear. My mother made sure I remembered that, I should have never been born, I'm aware that I'm a monster. You fucking dont have to remind me of it every damn minute!" Sunghoon yelled, walking out of the front door and slamming the door close.
Jake closed his eyes tightly and cursed, scolding himself for crossing a line. He felt bad, his heart hurt looking at Sunghoon like that and the reason for it being him. He needed to control his damn anger, he knew he was just being an asshole for no reason. So he stepped outside too, searching for Sunghoon to go and apologise to him.
The air was colder than usual, it was dark and quiet. In the darkness, he felt peace, suddenly all his fears dissipated into worry for the Vampire who was standing by the railing looking at the lake. He walked ahead and stood beside him waiting for him to notice his presence. The vampire ignored him completely and moved away from the railing, ready to walk away from the werewolf again. Jake held his hand before he could get away, "Sunghoon..." He trailed. "I'm not gonna let you go"
Sunghoon didn't say a word. He harshly removed the hand which held him. And turned around to walk ahead. Jake stopped him again, this time he stood in front of him trying to search for his eyes, he wanted to be sincere when he apologised. The vampire sighed and looked up, "Sunghoon, I'm a terrible person. I didn't mean anything which I said earlier. I-I just, I'm stupid. You know that already. And you are not a monster, you are a hero, ew cringe. But true you saved my life and you're letting us stay here. Thats very kind of you. I'm sorry, I mean it with all my heart. I just- I dont know how to talk, I'm built like this. I'll be better. I'll never call you monster again, forgive me."
The Vampire's anger seemed to dip down but he was frowning and pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration. He left Jake without a reply and went back to lean against the railing to watch the Lake. Jake followed him again and leaned beside him observing the Vampire's actions.
"Sunghoon," Jake called out placing a hand on the said person to gain his attention.
Sunghoon quickly detached his hand, "Dont do that!" He warned.
The werewolf frowned, "dont do what?"
The Vampire losing his last bit of patience, angrily stepped forward and shouted, " dont pretend like you care! Dont act like you like me one day and then act like you hate me the next. Don't talk to me nicely and then ignore me for ten days straight. Dont hug me and act like nothing happened the next day. Don't call me a monster and come to me the next minute to apologise. Don't lead me on, acting like you're interested in me when the truth is you're not. Stop pretending. Don't give me hope, Jake. Get out of here!! I dont want to see you!"
Overwhelming emotions combined with anger as Jake stepped forward too, " you think I'm pretending?? All of this? I did not fake anything, I might be rude but I never act. I do care about you, I ignored you because I was scared, I hugged you because you saved my life, I shouted at you earlier because there was so much bottled up inside me and I couldn't help myself when I saw you. Who else will I shout at huh? If not you? And I never pretended to like you, I just didnt know I liked you. I- wait." After angrily shouting nonstop Jake seemed to realise something, he moved closer and asked unbelievably "Do you like me?"
Sunghoon's eyes were wide, if it wasn't for their vision they wouldn't have known in the darkness. He processed every word which came out of Jake's mouth. Jake's eyes were watery, he looked flustered as he asked him the question Sunghoon had been searching the answer for, for the past few months,
Jake. There was something about him.
He felt happy when he was, felt scared when he was in danger, and felt hurt when he said things to him. He would hide behind the cover and say something rude immediately but deep down it hurt him, always. He knew he couldn't like someone like that, someone so weird, someone who was nothing like him and someone who frowns at the sight of him, despises his very kind. But Why does something so bad feel so right?
Something in the way he talks, the way he smiles, how he pushes the pull door, gets distracted by a wink, throws a tantrum when he looses marks in maths, but acts all tough outside when he's actually a soft person inside. How he's so different but so similar to his own self. How he liked to spend time with him, even though he said he hated him. Sunghoon never felt that way about anyone, especially about a boy, a werewolf. These feelings might be fatal but what did he have to lose? Hearing Jake say that he cared about him was enough to answer the question which had been haunting him for months.
"I like you, Jake" He said bravely, not breaking the eye contact. Jake's heart fluttered as he let out a shaky breath. A shy smile adorned his face. "Do you?" The vampire asked.
Jake looked down at the ground, all the confidence from earlier suddenly disappearing. "I-I...-" Sunghoon placed his fingers under the werewolves chin and made him look up at him, "look at me and answer"
He bit his lower lip before answering, "I like you too,"
The Vampire's face broke into the most beautiful smile Jake ever witnessed, that made his own lips curl into a wide smile. The next moment, he was pulled into Sunghoon's strong arms for a bone-crushing hug.
"Umpf- ...nghoon I cannot breath!" Jake's voice was muffled as he spoke, Sunghoon immediately pulled apart worriedly and caressed the wolf's hair and cheeks, "sorry, did I hurt you-"
Jake chuckled loudly, "No, I was just kidding hahaha look at your face," The vampire fake gasped and flicked his forehead playfully.
"Ouchh! What was that for!" He cried out rubbing his stinging forehead. The latter just shrugged with a mischievous smile, " for no reason, Just wanted to do that for a long time"
Jake's eyes lit up as something crossed his mind, he reached forward and kissed the birthmark under Sunghoon's eyes. That made the latter taken aback for a second, he titled his head to the side with an amused smile, "and what was that for?" He asked.
"No reason , Just wanted to do that for a long time."
Both the Vampire and Werewolf broke into a laughter as a warm feeling in the cold winter filled their hearts.
