Ok, Elena invited Damon, Stefan and Caroline, Bonnie and Enzo, and you on a boat trip.
Elena, my younger sister, had asked me a few weeks ago to go on a boat trip. My only condition was that I could bring Kai.
I never could have expected he would have this bad of a reaction to the water; and clearly he didn't either. Kai had his hands clamping the railing in white-knuckled grip. His face was twisted up in a grimace, intense nausea racking his body; not yet used to the movement from being on a boat.
He looked almost green at this point, barley able to hide his dry heaves over the edge of the boat. I knew he was only staying for my benefit at this point, which was making me a tad bit sad. Water definitely seemed to have the opposite effect on Kai compared to me. Being on the water always felt like instant relaxation to me.
I still, however, didn't want to force him into any major discomfort, like he was obviously feeling right now; so I decided to pipe up as he clearly he wasn't gonna tell me himself, "Are you sure you're feeling ok enough to stay, Kai?"
He pulled at his shirt around the collar with one hand, crossing his other arm around his stomach. It took him a second to answer and in that time I almost began to turn the boat around back to the bay.
"I'm fine!" He rasped out and I could see a shiver run through him. If I had offered to turn the boat around he'd most definitely have been pissed, not wanting me to turn it around for his own sake. I squinted my eyes in suspicion, he was not fine, obviously, but if he was insistent on staying there really was nothing I could do.
I cock my head and give Kai an odd look when I sudden see him lurch forward. "You sure you're ok?"
"Mm-hm. Fine."
"You telling me the truth?"
Kai's mouth waters in a threatening way, and he scrapes his tongue over his teeth and swallows again before answering. "I'm ok. I'm fine." He's trying to convince himself just as much as he's trying to convince me.
"You don't look so good." My eyes pass over Kai's face, lingering on the excessive sweat beading across his forehead.
Kai forces down his nausea, acutely aware of the six other people on the deck behind him. He can hear Damon and Elena laughing. Having fun. You're having fun. He can't ruin her good time.
I leave my arm around Kai's shoulders and pass the back of ny knuckles under Kai's jaw. "Kai, talk to me. You feeling sick?"
Kai slowly lets the air out of his lungs. He's beginning to taste his breakfast. He needs to get a grip right now or things aren't going to end well. "Don't worry about it. I'm alright." It comes out more brusquely than he means it to. He brings his fist up to his mouth.
"No, you're not. Stop trying to hide—"
"Shit." Kai gags suddenly. He wills the burn in his throat back down, but he can't suppress it anymore. He leans forward, trying to turn away from me as he throws up.
"Hey, alright." I whisper gently patting his back. "You're gonna be ok."
Kai retches again and leans further over the rail, heaving up more of his previous meals. "Sorry," He whispers, trying desperately to catch his breath.
"Hey, taking care of you when you're sick...I can do that," I reassure him, digging in my bag for a tissue.
"-Thanks." He whispers again, quickly wiping his mouth and nose. Then once done he crumples the used Kleenex in his trembling fist
"You doing any better? I mean, you can tell me if you still feel shitty."
"I'm ok, really," Kai rasps. "Just, I don't know. Seasick." His pale cheeks flush with embarrassment.
"I didn't know you got seasick," I say sympathetically. "Happens to a lot of people, though."
"Haven't really ever been on a boat." Kai says weakly, leaning heavily on my shoulder. I gently guide him to the chair in the "captains quarters" next to where I was driving, sitting him down gently.
As he was still pretty pale-green, I scooted the trash can next to his feet, making sure he could get to it if he needed it.
"My water bottle is right in front of you if you wanna take a few sips, and I moved the trash can by your feet incase you feel sick again. So you don't have to run all the way to the edge." He nodded gratefully and laid his head on his arms, which he had crossed on the desk.
I reached over and placed a comforting hand on his back. "I know you don't wanna turn around and go back to shore, but maybe I can stop for a bit, get them to swim so your stomach can calm at least a little." He let out a weak nod and I slowed the boat to a stop.
I went out onto the deck to let the others know we were stopping so they could have a swim break. The girls wasted no time ripping their shirts off and diving into the water, Stefan and Damon quickly following behind. But weirdly instead of going in with the others, Enzo walked over to me.
"Hey are you two ok? I heard someone throw up." He questioned, clearly voicing his underlying worry in his tone.
"Oh, uh, yeah, Kai just isn't feeling to great." I replied sheepishly; glancing back at the man in question.
"Do you want me to make up an excuse so we can head back to shore?" The gesture made me smile. Enzo and I had always been close. Elena was the good child while I was the "bad, rebellious one who made reckless decisions". Enzo was the only one that approved of/supported my relationship with Kai, and I was grateful to him for that.
"That would be amazing thank you so much." I answered thankfully.
"Anything for you Luv." Enzo headed back to the others and leaned over the side. He lied
and said he was really tired and all the waves were making him nauseous, and the others quickly got back in the boat, saying we needed to go back in.Me and Enzo shared a look and I gave him a grateful nod, before heading back to the cabin to bring us back to shore.
Well I hope y'all enjoyed. I kinda pulled this one outta my ass so sorry if it's sucks. Leave requests in the comments, I love getting to write them! BYEEE!!!
