I stood at the front of a group of training wolves and watched them with a critical gaze. My whole body was tense while I watched them, waiting for a call to get back to my house as fast as I could before my mate appeared.

I leaned to one side while I watched them fight, proud of this group of young men and women who were fighting in front of me because I knew that this was difficult for them, but they were taking it in stride, proving to themselves and me that we were the strongest pack, second to the king.

'Alpha, the Alpha Male, is coming to your house hot,' someone stationed a few miles away from my house said. 'Do I need to create a detour to make sure that you are there before him?'

I bit back a sigh of annoyance and lifted my eyes to the heavens when he called me Alpha, but I didn't correct him like I wanted to because I knew that I didn't have time, and I knew that they wouldn't change my title from Alpha.

I raised my hand, and the whole pack stopped and stared at me while I looked at my Gamma. "Miguel, you're in charge for the rest of the training period," I said, and Miguel nodded and walked over to the front of the group and stood beside me.

I looked at my pack, and they stared at me, expectantly, waiting for what I had to say. "The rear of you, be careful when you go home. If you are about to get caught, then contact one of the Elitist or King's Guard that are nearby. They'll help you get home."

'Alpha?' the person asked, urgency filling his voice. He wanted to know what I wanted him to do because he knew that I wasn't home just yet.

"Yes, Beta," the group chorused and bowed their heads in respect. They didn't ask me where I was going, guessing that I needed to get home before the Alpha stopped by for whatever reason.

'Get him stopped,' I said and took a step back, letting Miguel take my spot. "Good work today, though." I twisted on my feet in the direction that I needed to go and ran as fast as I could back towards the house, jumping into the trees without moving that many branches while I pulled on my hood and mask, disappearing from view.

'Done,' the male said a few minutes later while I went into the treetops, weaving through the branches, glad that I had my King's Guard outfit on because he wouldn't be able to see me if we "crossed" paths while I made it home. 'I don't know how long we'll be able to keep him like this, so you should get home quickly.'

'Don't worry, keep him busy for as long as you can,' I said, using a bit of the shadows to help me get through the area quickly because it sounded like he was having trouble keeping the Alpha away. My heart pounded hard in my chest, and a wave of excitement filled my body because I loved this, getting somewhere faster than others expected.

'Yes, Alpha. Let me know when you are back at your house.'

I grunted out a response before I broke the link between the two of us and linked up with my grandmother. 'Grams, I am going to need you to open my window quickly,' I said. 'I am coming in hot.'

'Don't you dare break the glass window, Alexandra May, she scolded, and I rolled my eyes and scowled. 'I just put in the new windows two months ago because of the exact same thing.'

I didn't respond and picked up my pace. I made it to the edge of the woods and hopped onto one of the rooftops. 'I am close,' I said to my grandmother while I ran across the rooftops, jumping from each one while I went towards my house. 'Please, just open the window to my room.'

'Oh, I already opened the window, Dear,' my grandmother said. 'Why can't you be normal and walk through a door? Why do you have to dive bomb into a room?'

I didn't respond and dove off of one roof and into my room, clearing the threshold and not hitting the top of the window like I had done last time, which was why she was annoyed with me doing this.

Like a cat, I twisted my body until I was facing her and landed on my feet, my knee barely touching the ground. I pulled the mask down and took the hood off, and stared at my grandmother to see that she was scowling at me. "Because I am not normal, Grams," I said, and she scoffed and rolled her eyes. I linked the person that had contacted me about Levi. 'I am at the house. Send him this way.'

'Yes, Alpha.'

"That doesn't mean you can jump into rooms and have the windows open, Alexandra May," she scolded. She folded her arms across her chest and jutted out a hip while she watched me take off my shoes. "Now, why did you come in so hot?"

"Levi is on his way,'' I said, and she nodded while she pressed her lips into a thin line. I didn't look at her and cleared my throat while I undressed. "Can you make sure he doesn't enter?"

My grandmother slowly nodded and raised an eyebrow in question. "Your room or the house?"

"Preferably both, but my room would be the best," I said and kicked my other shoe off while I unbuckled my belt. "I am going to act like I had just gotten out of the shower."

"Hmph." She muttered something under her breath while she left my room, closing the door behind her.

I rolled my eyes in my grandmother's direction and closed the window before I quickly undressed the rest of the way and practically ran to the bathroom, leaving a mess of clothes in my path.

Goddess, please don't let him enter, I prayed, knowing full well that he would know what I had done if he saw the clothes. He doesn't need to know that I am still training the pack behind his back...

Please.
