My mate breathed a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded, grateful that my grandmother was going to allow him to walk over to me, even though we had a lot of things that we needed to discuss and make sure that no one else knew besides us.

Levi walked over to where I was sitting and pushed my chair away from the table before he walked in between my legs and knelt down in between them. He made sure that my teacup was on the table before he grabbed my hands and leaned forward closer to me and my face.

My heart skipped a beat before it started to pound hard and fast in my chest, and I was grateful that he couldn't hear it because of the King's Guards clothing that I wore underneath my "normal" clothing.

Oh, Goddess...

I watched as my mate looked at my lips before he looked me in the eyes without saying a word and waiting for him to do something, anything that would break this silence that had fallen between us.

Or for him to kiss me, if that was what he wanted to do...

And thankfully, I didn't have to wait long because he pressed his lips on mine, earning a small squeal of excitement from Corey while I kissed him back without him having to wait for me to do it.

'Awww, you two are so cute,' she said with another squeal in her voice. 'I am so happy for you, Lex.'

'Shut up, Core,' I said with a small grumble in my voice while I pulled away from the kiss first, much to my mate's amusement, even though all I wanted to do was keep kissing him until we were both satisfied. I scowled and narrowed my eyes at the other male, and he raised an eyebrow in question while he studied me. "What was that for, Levi?" I asked. "Why did you kiss me?"

"Because I wanted to kiss you, Lex," Levi replied and slowly blinked while he raised his eyebrow higher in question, and a small spark of amusement flashed through his eyes. "Was that a crime?"

"Yes," I replied and slowly blinked, earning a small tsk from my grandmother while my mate snorted and held back an eye roll. "That was a crime, and you are going to have to pay for it, Levitation." I bit back a tired sigh and shook my head. "Why did you kiss me, though?" I asked, not letting him answer what I had said.

"And what is my punishment?" Levi asked, not answering my question. He pressed a small kiss to my temple, and I involuntarily closed my eyes and bit the inside of my lip.

Oh, sweet Goddess...

"But I kissed you because I wanted to kiss you, Lex." He moved a hand through my hair and stared at me with a soft look on his face. "I wanted to kiss you and to show you that you mean something to me in a good way."

"Hmph." I pressed my lips into a thin line and looked down without saying a word. The hair on the back of my neck stood at attention, but I didn't say a word about what it was that he told me.

Levi pressed another kiss to my lips before he pulled away and squeezed my hands reassuringly. "I want you to be the Alpha of the pack, Lexi," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "You have done that for two years, and I want you to continue to be the Alpha."

I shook my head and set my jaw, pressing my lips into a thin line. "I am the Beta for a reason, Levi," I said. "You are the true Alpha of this pack, and that is the position you shall remain after you are free from their control."

Levi hesitated and grabbed my hands again before he pressed a small kiss to my lips. "The pack doesn't agree with you, Lex," he said and shook his head, his voice barely above a whisper, "especially Miguel and Aaron. They want you to stay in control even after I am not under this stupid shit."
