The white light on his marks dimmed down as fast as it came, but the symbols on his body continued to stay white, earning a small sigh of relief from my grandmother.
"Good, good, it worked," she said and nodded. She moved away from my mate, and my mate kept his eyes closed and waited for her to tell him to do something else. "Go ahead and open your eyes, Levi," she said with a small chuckle in her voice. "You don't need to keep having your eyes closed."
"So are you sure that it worked, Grams?" my mate asked and opened his eyes so that he could look at my grandmother. His whole body was tense, and I could tell that he was nervous and worried that it didn't.
"It did," she said and nodded in confirmation before she looked at me. "So, that means you are able to talk about everything that you need to talk to him and the rest of the g-"
"Grams," I warned, interrupting her with a small scowl on my face. I narrowed my eyes and bit back a small growl of annoyance, and a small smile appeared on her face with amusement flashing through her eyes. "Don't, please."
My grandmother bit back a small chuckle and shook her head before she looked at him, growing serious. "We have guests over, Love," she said with a small chuckle in her voice, ignoring the growl that I sent her way.
"Grams," I warned again. "He is n-"
"He is too, Dear," my grandmother said, interrupting me with a shake of her head before she looked at me. "That is why I wanted to make sure that everything is fine with him before we talk to him about what is going on with the pack. He is the Alpha." She gave me a pointed look and raised both eyebrows in unison.
I held back an eye roll and bit back a tired sigh, pursing my lips in annoyance. I rubbed the bridge of my nose when a headache appeared out of nowhere, and all I wanted to do was take a nap but knew that wouldn't be possible, especially since I had to make sure that the pack knew what was happening with me and not to say much when I was under his control.
"So?" my grandmother asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me. A small smirk appeared on her face, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scowl before I turned to look at Levi to see that he was staring at me with something on his face that I didn't know and didn't like.
"Does that mean that there are people here that aren't supposed to be here?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I nodded in confirmation.
"Yes," I said and shifted in my seat. "There are multiple people that are gathered here, even though they aren't supposed to be here." I hesitated and licked my lips, not sure how he would react to this news. "Everyone that is in the living room was here the first night that you came here as yourself."
Oh, Goddess, please don't let him be mad at me...
My mate blinked and blinked a second time, and his face grew dark while anger and annoyance flashed through his eyes. "So they know?" he asked coldly. "They know that I am being con-?" He huffed and rolled his eyes when the spell worked against him. "They know what is happening to me, right?"
I didn't look at him and nodded, pressing my lips into a thin line. My heart pounded hard and fast in my chest, and it took all of my self-control not to burst into tears, even though that was all I wanted to do. "Yes," I said, my voice barely above a whisper and cracked, which my mate didn't seem to notice. "They know that you are being controlled."
Levi growled and moved a hand through his hair and across his face. He pursed his lips in annoyance and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "So you lied to me," he said and stared at me with a look on his face that I didn't notice. "Why the fu-"
