My grandmother didn't say a word about what she had done to him and breathed a small sigh of relief. "Don't worry about it, Dear," she said and shook her head, biting back a small smile. "The spell is still there."

"But what did you do?" he asked and furrowed his brows in confusion, pressing his lips into a thin line. "Why am I in control? They told me that he stopped having m-" He groaned in annoyance when he couldn't finish his sentence, for the curse was still on him but not as much as before.

My grandmother smiled sadly and shook her head, and pain and sadness flashed through her eyes. "Unfortunately, there are some limitations as to what I can do and take off," she said and tucked her head closer to her chest. "You still won't be able to provide us with information that they have deemed as unfit for us to know."

I bit back a small snort and rolled my eyes, pressing my lips into a thin line. I didn't look at my mate fully and instead stared at the cup in my hands, not able to read the secrets that it held about my path and how much it had changed because of me being under the Puppetmaster's control.

My mate looked at me before he looked at my grandmother when I didn't meet his gaze. "So I can't tell her anything?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, and I could hear the frustration and anger in his voice. "Bu-"

"But you don't have to, Dear," she said and shook her head, interrupting him. She cleared her throat while she shifted on her feet. "Now, before we talk about anything else, can you take off your shirt so that I can see something, please?"

Levi hesitated before he slowly nodded and did what he was told to do. He took his shirt off but kept seated beside me. He didn't say a word and pressed his lips into a thin line while he stared at my grandmother, not knowing what to do or to say.

My grandmother bit back a small chuckle and cleared her throat. "Now, now," she said with a small tsk in her voice. "Go ahead and stand. I can't see you while you are seated next to your mate." She gestured toward me, and Levi looked at me before he looked at her without saying a word.

I didn't look at him and didn't look at anything while I stared at the remaining contents of my cup, wanting to know what secrets it held but not wanting to interrupt their conversation at all.

"Alexandra?" my mate asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He hesitated before he placed his hand on mine, not standing like my grandmother had wanted him to do, much to my grandmother's amusement. "Hey, can you look at me? Are you ok?"

I hesitated and licked my lips while my throat closed when a wave of emotion washed over me, and I grabbed my mate's hand tighter while my hand started to shake just a tad. I didn't look at him, not able to because I had no idea what I would see if I did so.

"Go ahead and look at him, Alexandra, Dear," my grandmother said with a small chuckle in her voice while she tucked her head closer to that. "After that, he needs to stand and do what I told him to do." She scowled and narrowed her eyes at my mate, and amusement flashed through her eyes.

I gulped before I did what I was told to do and looked at my mate, biting the inside of my lip. I stared at him with a blank look on my face, and my mate's blue eyes looked clearer and more alert than it had in the past.

My mate bit back a small smile while he tucked his head closer to his chest, and relief filled his eyes when he saw me staring at him. "Alexandra?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He moved closer to me before he placed his hand on my face, and I closed my eyes and placed my hand on his, burying my face closer to it. "A-"

"Say it," I said, interrupting him while I shook my head, closing my eyes tighter together. "Please."

Levi frowned and slowly blinked, and I knew that he was looking at me with a nervous look on his face, even though I didn't look at him. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper while he studied me. "I'm still under everything, bu-"

"Say it," I said, interrupting him with a small growl in my voice. "Why do you have to fight me on this, Leviathan? Say my name."

My mate bit back a small smirk and snorted while he gently rubbed his thumb across my cheek. "Because it is sometimes amusing to see you get worked up over nothing, Lex," he said before he moved closer to me and placed a gentle kiss on my lips. "And this is one of those times."

"He's not wrong, Love," Corey said, with a small giggle in her voice, and I had to make sure that my face didn't show my annoyance toward the female in the other room. "I think that it is fun, especially since it isn't directed toward us."

I rolled my eyes and pressed a small kiss to his lips. "And how is this one of those times, Levi?" I asked, and he chuckled and rubbed my cheek with his thumb some more. I opened my eyes and studied him, pressing my lips into a thin line.

Levi didn't say a word about how it was amusing before he pressed another kiss to my lips. He tapped my cheek with his thumb before he pulled away from me and stood, growing serious, and I bit back an annoyed sigh but stayed seated.

"Hmmmm." My grandmother tucked her head closer to her chest while she looked at me before she turned to look at my mate. "Come here, Baby Boy," she said and started to walk over to him, and Levi rolled his eyes and bit back a small groan.

"Grams," he said, and a small groan came out of his mouth while he walked the rest of the way over to her. "Why do you have to call me, Baby Boy? I am an adult."

My grandmother chuckled and shook her head. She patted his cheek, biting back a small smile. "Because you are my baby," she said and placed her hand on his cheek, and he placed his hand on hers and buried his face into her hand. "You will always be my baby boy."

"Even though I am not related to you at all," he said, with a small teasing grumble in his voice, "and everyone calls you "Grams," even those that are older than you."

My grandmother bit back a small laugh before she slowly nodded. "Yes," she said and cleared her throat while she grew serious and took a step back, letting her hand fall to her side. "Now, go ahead and stand still while I make sure that everything is safe and ready for us to discuss what we need to discuss with each other. Ok?"

Levi hesitated before he slowly nodded, and a look of hesitation flashed through his eyes. "Ok," he said before he cleared his throat while he shifted on his feet. He looked at me before he looked at my grandmother a second time.

My grandmother smiled and a look of sadness and amusement flashed through her eyes. "Now, my dear boy," she said. "What I have to ask before I do this is do you trust me? I know that you are hesitant, and that is ok, but I need to know if you trust me."

Levi bit back a small smile and nodded. "With my life, Garms," he said and bowed his head before he lifted his head and looked her in the eyes with a look of determination in his eyes. "I trust you with my life and know that you will not do me any harm."

I promise...
