My grandmother breathed a small sigh of relief as soon as he said that he trusted him with her life. "Good, good," she said and nodded. She cleared her throat and shifted on her feet. "Now, go ahead and close your eyes. I will do what I need to do to make sure that they, and you, will not know what I have done."
My mate furrowed his brows and cocked his head to the side while he studied her, and a small frown appeared on his face. "How?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he continued to study her. "How will they not know what you had done to me? They're powerful, Grams. They are far more powerful than you can ever imagine."
"Well, so are we," my grandmother said and chuckled with a slow nod, and I raised an eyebrow in question while I studied her without saying a word. She looked at me and flashed me a small smirk and a wink before she looked at Levi. "Unfortunately, there is still a limitation as to what I can say and what I can't say. All that I am telling you is safe for you to know."
"And they won't know?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he continued to study her. "Please, Grams, if they will know, then d-" He stopped talking when my grandmother raised her hand to silence him, and he instantly closed his mouth.
"As I have stated before, they will not know, for you will forget what I have told you, too. Once the threat is taken care of, and you are no longer under their control, then you will remember everything again, and you will be able to ask... certain questions if you so desire." She looked at me when she said that before she looked at him.
Confusion filled his eyes while he looked at her before he turned to look at me and then back at her when the confusion slowly started to turn to something else. "The Viper," he said, his voice barely above a whisper when it dawned on him what she was implying and what he was going to remember fully later on during the line. "Is that what you are implying?"
I grew stiff and shifted ever so slightly in my seat, but I made no indication that I knew what he was talking about or why he was acting like that. I made sure to keep my face blank and still as possible while I watched my mate look between the two of us, waiting for her to answer his question.
My grandmother chuckled and shrugged, not giving him any indication that was what she was implying. "As I have stated before, now is not the time nor the place to ask such questions. You will know in due time, and I hope that it doesn't change the way that you... view certain parties." She looked at me when she said that before she looked at him.
"Never," he said and shook his head, and I had to keep myself still and not relax like I wanted to. "It doesn't change the way I view the person, and I hope that they know that." He looked at me, silently telling me that he wanted me, past and all, and that we would talk about it when it was safe for us to do so and alone.
I took a deep breath and released it with a small whoosh before I slowly nodded. I didn't say a word and leaned back in my seat while I stared at him, biting the inside of my lip and biting back a small gulp.
'Awww, I guess that means you can use everything you have learned as the Viper on him,' Corey said with a small squeal in her voice. 'Make him say that name when you do it.' She mentally flashed me a small smirk and a wink.
'Shut up, Corey,' I said and growled in warning, earning a small snicker from the female near me. 'I do not know what you mean, and even if I did, then I would not make him say that name but something else.'
'Like your actual name?' she asked and mentally wiggled her eyebrows, and I had to keep my face blank while I stared at my grandmother and mate, waiting for them to finish with what they needed to do.
'Perhaps,' I said, earning a small chuckle from the female on the other side of the link, 'but I do not know when that is going to happen.' I leaned further in my chair and pressed my lips into a thin line.
My grandmother chuckled and tucked her head close to her chest while she looked between the two of us. "Now," she said, "why don't you go ahead and look at me, Levi, so that I can make sure that everything is safe. We have things to discuss and p-"
"Grams," I said, interrupting her, knowing full well that she was talking about the people gathered in my living room. I scowled and narrowed my eyes, pressing my lips into a thin line. "Don't."
My grandmother looked at me and smiled, and a look of amusement flashed through her eyes. She didn't say a word before she looked at my mate, who had furrowed his brows in confusion.
"What are you talking about, Grams?" he asked and looked between the two of us before he looked at her. "Are you talking about the reason as to why the door is closed?" He gestured toward the kitchen door, and she looked that way before she looked at him. "Are there people on the other side of the door? Is it some of m- Lex's pack?"
I bit back a tired sigh and leaned back in my seat while I folded my arms across my chest, tapping my finger against my arm. "Even if there were people in my living room, why would you call them my pack when it is your pack, Levi?"
Levi's eyes grew sadder and softer while he looked at me, and he bit back a small smile. He shook his head before he cleared his throat and licked his lips. "Because it isn't my pack any longer, Lex," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I do-"
"You are the Alpha of this pack, Leviathan," I said, biting back a small snap while I interrupted him. I bit back a small growl and narrowed my eyes while I looked at him with a hard look in my eyes, and my mate raised an eyebrow in question. "I am not the Alpha of your pack. I may be the standin Alpha until you are out from under their control, but I am not the Alpha. That title is held by you and will be held by you until you die."
Levi hesitated before he looked at the door before he looked at me with something in his eyes that I didn't know and didn't like. He looked at my grandmother and stayed put, but we both knew that he wanted to move closer to me.
My grandmother chuckled and slowly nodded while she gestured toward me. "Go ahead and do what you want to do, Leviathan, Dear," she said. "However, come back over to me so that we can do this. We do have something that we need to do, and that is all I am allowed to say because of the look my granddaughter is giving me until we both deem it safe for you to know everything that we are hiding from you."
