See, Senku is a great guy.

Really, he is.

And he's very smart.

But this is the dumbest thing he could have done.

With wide (e/c) eyes, I slowly turned to look at the slightly taller male, watching as his garnet eyes drifted over to me before he asked: "what?"

"Senku. Do you know what this is?"

"Aconitum Napellus, why?"

"You're correct. Aconitum Napellus, however, is usually known by a different name: wolfsbane!"

Senku stared at me, not quite getting the point I was trying to make. I let out a sigh before grabbing him by the shoulders and looking him dead in the eyes. "Do you have any idea how deadly this shit is? Why on earth do we need it!?"

"We can use it for weapons. Since it's poisonous, we can wipe it along blades and arrowheads."

"Ok, do the villagers know that?"

"Of course not, only Kohaku travels out this far and she steers clear from this area because of some local myth I can't be bothered to remember."

I sighed once again, letting him go and stepping away from him. "Please tell me you brought something to protect us with."

Senku gave me one of his sly grins, telling me he had gone way too far in designing whatever it was. "Of course I did. I'm not an idiot."

"Keep telling yourself that, but proceed."

He shot me an unamused glare as I giggled quietly, watching him pull out the protective gear which was really just a couple of pairs of very poorly made gloves. I looked at them and raised a brow. "Dude, you telling me you don't have someone who can fuckin sew?"

"Is that really important right now?"

"A little???"

Senku rolled his eyes at me before beginning to pick some of the plants, me hesitantly joining him before he stopped me. "I've got this. I need you to gather some Malachite. I saw some in a cave a couple of hundred yards that way." He jerked his head to the right to show me to the cave.

"Boy, what the hell are you using Malachite for?" I stared down at him, completely bewildered.

Senku let out a long and very irritated groan before telling me, very matter-of-factly: "Pigment."

I stared at him for a beat longer before sighing and making my way down the hill and into the cave. The interior wasn't all that exciting, as one would expect when walking into a hole in the earth, but it was dark and quiet and peaceful and that's all I really wanted. While I was walking around, searching for the Malachite, I looked up and chuckled upon spotting both Bastet and Tefnut watching me with, pun intended, cat-like grins. "Hello, ladies, how can I help you?" I gave them a soft chuckle as I continued walking.

"Little Cub, is that not the boy you have been fighting with? Are you planning on killing him or do I need to do so?" Hearing Tefnut's offer made me choke on air as I turned to her, my alarm and Tefnut's comment making Bastet burst into laughter.

"What!? Oh, my god, of course not! If I'm going to kill someone, it's going to be on my accord, not yours. Also, no, he and I are fine now. We talked it out and it turns out he was just frustrated that I wasn't helping as much as he wanted."

Bastet gave a soft hum before giggling. "Oh, Dear Lotus, it's more than just that."

"What do you mean by that, mama?" Bastet had made it clear that she was one of my astral mothers a while ago so I just started calling her 'mama' and she rolled with it.

"Lotus, I'm a goddess of love." She gave me a knowing look as she spoke.

I stared at her, processing what she said before I laughed and rolled my eyes, bagging the now found Malachite. "Oh, mama, that's rich. There's no chance he has any feelings for me at all. I've barely been here a month!"

"That's all it takes, right Tefnut?"

Said lioness looked up from playing with her sword. "Huh? Uh, sure?"

"Tefnut, don't agree unless you've been paying attention."

"I'm older than you."

Bastet sighed heavily before kneeling down to my height, resting a hand on my head. "Heed my words, Lotus. Do not doubt that there is something there..in both of you." She gave me a sly grin as she gently tapped my heart chakra before leaving, Tefnut ruffling my hair and leaving after her.

I stared after them for a while before I chuckled. "Oh, mama, always trying to get me riled up." I then closed up my bag and headed back towards Senku.
