I was halfway to the lab before my brain started working again.
WHAT WAS I DOING!?
Just off to tell Senku my biggest fuckin secret, no big deal!
THE HELL IT ISN'T!!!
Unfortunately, for me, Gen's words made more sense than I wanted them to so I walked into the lab with the scientist before I could stop myself. I found myself simply staring at him, at a total loss for words and not because I want to date him, come on now, y'all know me better than that by now, but because fear had me by the throat. I could feel all of my doubt and terror clouding my chakras, creating a storm of such magnitude it made Sekhmet's rage appear to be nothing more than a hissy fit.
As I remained standing in front of my crush, fully disassociated now, I obviously failed to notice him snapping his fingers directly in my face until he flicked my nose, the rough action jerking me out of my panicked thoughts.
"Finally. Why are you just standing there? You gonna help or what?" Senku's nasal tone felt like a slap in the face after hearing some of the deepest voices speaking to me for the 15 seconds I was standing there but I quickly pulled myself together.
"Ah, right, sorry, I got a little lost there for a second." I cleared my throat as I forced the blush from earlier to stay down, my (e/c) eyes fighting to remain focused on his garnet ones rather than getting lost. "There's actually something I've been meaning to tell you, but I haven't gotten the chance because of the Empire and all the work we've been doing."
Senku nodded for me to continue as I took a deep breath, one final thought running through my brain before I spoke. 'Here goes nothing..'
"I'm a witch."
Now, Senku is usually pretty good at having a quip or a comeback of some sort or at least just waving me off like I'm a lunatic but this was a first; he was completely stunned, a deer in the fucking headlights.
His deep red eyes stared at me in utter shock as his genius-level brain took longer than normal to process what I had just revealed to him. The entire 45 seconds was incredibly awkward and I thought about just bolting and dealing with it later but decided to follow in Anubis's footsteps and just stick it out, knowing him and the others would all scold me for running later.
As his eyes came back into focus, Senku leveled me a hard look, putting what he was working on down for once.
"You're a witch?"
"Yeah..I've been practicing my whole life, I was practically raised on it."
He took a deep, slow breath before speaking again. "Who else knows?"
"Gen."
"And?"
"That's it. I didn't want to spook the villagers and have the Salem Witch Trials repeat over 3,000 years in the future so I haven't told anyone outside of you and Gen."
Senku gave a nod before sighing. "Good. Keep it that way."
I tilted my head at him, sensing that he wasn't done talking only to have my suspicions confirmed. "I guess it makes sense; you have a weird and specific knowledge about almost everything I've ever asked you to gather. To be honest with you, I was suspecting something when we went out for the wolfsbane and malachite but I left it alone, figuring you just had a niche hobby and I guess I wasn't far off. I honestly couldn't care less because the way I see it, you're an even bigger asset to the Kingdom of Science; I really can't lose you now." The smirk he gave me after that was to die for but I simply smiled back at him.
"I'm glad this ended so well. I thought for sure you would shun me or something." He and I shared a chuckle as he shook his head.
"Nah, that would be illogical and rash. The Kingdom of Science needs someone as smart and spiritual as you. Given that you're a witch, you could teach religion the way it should've been taught."
I gave him a bigger smile, one that was truly genuine, barely noticing the tinge of red painting his cheeks. "I would like that, actually. I personally speak with several gods and even a Saint or two so I can definitely get all of the info we would need, though it would be easier to just have them channel through me."
Senku just slowly nodded. "You're losing me, but this is interesting..no wonder the mentalist likes you so much." Senku looked down as he frowned at his experiment a bit, however, I caught his change in mood.
"Oi, why the long face? I thought this witch thing made you happy so why are you glaring at your favorite thing in the world?" I crossed my arms as I monitored the scientist in front of me, watching as he huffed out a chuckle before giving me a fake grin.
"It's nothing. Go ahead and head back out, I'll be working you even harder now that I know this little secret." He gave me a sinister smirk as I groaned and left.
Senku's POV
I watched as (Y/N) left the lab, jealously swirling in my stomach. I looked back down at the chemicals in front of me as images of her and Gen infiltrated my usually collected mind; images of them laughing, smiling, hugging, whispering...kissing. Why did any of that matter though? I am a man of science and I've made that more than clear so why does the thought of (Y/N) and that fucking mentalist piss me off so much? I know they're friends, they have been since they met what with having the same sense of humor and interests and all but..I can't help but feel that Gen might harbor something...stronger for (Y/N) and I know that he's probably going to be the one to win out...
I should just leave it, shouldn't I?
