5. Time

Morning came swiftly and while I was irritated that coffee had yet to exist, I was distracted rather easily by Senku demanding my help.

The lab was a small and simple area with a strange energy of irritation and science and while Senku and I worked on forging new chemicals to help with whatever his new project was, I couldn't help but think about the night before: why did Senku look so irritated? Finally, after having enough of my brain overthinking, I stopped what I was doing and turned to Senku.

"What happened?" The sudden sound of my voice cut through the silence quickly and caused Senku to flinch slightly before he sighed and continued working.

"What are you talking about?" His voice matched his current and previous facial expressions of irritation so I pressed a bit further.

"After I was done talking to Chrome," I watched as his body tensed at the mention of the boy, "I came to wish you goodnight but not only were you busy but you looked irritated and mad so, what happened? What made you mad?"

Senku paused as he mulled over my questions, keeping entirely quiet as I waited calmly for his answer.

Senku POV (betcha weren't expecting that; a treat for the long wait)

Dammit, what the hell am I supposed to say here? Even I don't know why Im so irritated. Either way, staying quiet won't do me any good.

"The chemicals weren't mixing properly last night; I couldn't get done what I needed to get done." I added a little shrug to make it seem more realistic.

(Y/N) stared me down (has her gaze always been so terrifying?) before she gave up and went back to what she was doing. I relaxed slightly before focusing back on my own work, though my mind kept wandering back to last night; why was she with Chrome for so long? And why does it piss me off? Probably because she was supposed to help me.

I gave a slight nod to myself as I concluded that I was just mad she didn't help me when she was supposed to. That had to be it. It couldn't have been anything else.

I'm certain of it.
