The Forgotton Stars

Chapter 9

Cloey walked with scar and Nicole through the woods. Her arm was feeling so much better now that scar helped her. she thinks scar is cool and so brave and smart.
They reached a stump were a hole was. Scar reached inside the hole. "eh?" he said. "it's not here. It was here before I left."
"over there!" Nicole shouted. She was looking at a squirrel with the neckless in its mouth nibbling on it.
"No!" cloey yelled.
As quick as the speed of light, scar grabbed the squirrel by its tail, and it dropped the neckless. As scar let go of the animal it quickly ran up a tree nearby. Scar picked up the neckless and lend it to Nicole.
Nicole look amazed at how fast scar was. She couldn't even speak. scar gleamed with pride as he said, "fast am I right?"
"uh... y-yeah, no kidding" Nicole replied.
"can you teach me how to do that?!?!" cloey asked.
"heh, maybe, but I wouldn't run here because of what happened" scar said staring at cloeys wound.
"it's mercury," Nicole said staring at the neckless. "we've found them, do you think we should talk to them?"
"Yes!" cloey yelled.
"I think it would be interesting" scar said calmly with some curiosity.
Nicole nodded then held the necklaces in both hands then said "mercury."
They waited and waited, and nothing happened. "mercury" Nicole said again. But there was still nothing.
"What's taking so long?!" cloey asked.
"patience" scar said.
It was about five minutes later when they decided to give up. Why wasn't the sky warrior talking to them? Did they do something wrong?
They started to head back to the trail then they heard a voice behind them. "stay." Cloey looked behind her then saw a ghostly figure of a man with gray hair and eyes. Could that be mercury? She worded.
Scar seemed very interested. "is that one of the sky warriors yall were talking about?" he asked
Before cloey could answer the ghost spoke. "yes, I am mercury. Scar, you have been helpful with these two young ones on their journey so far. You also saved me, thank you. I want you to keep teaching and helping them throughout their journey. You must keep watch of them. I best be going. I give you all my luck." He turned to mist without waiting for a reply.
"interesting" scar said gleaming.
"b-but why? Is scar supposed to be searching with us now?" Nicole asked.
"I don't think that's what he meant; I think he is saying anytime you need help to come find me." He answered.
"oh..." cloey was disappointed. Cloey wanted scar to come with them. Scar was so awesome. He knew everything. She wanted to be exactly like him.
