The Forgotton Stars

Chapter 10

Nicole continued walking on the trail with scar and cloey talking with each other.
"yall should sleep here for tonight," scar recommended. "the sun is going down."

"what?!" Nicole screamed. She would never sleep in the woods! What if something tried attacking her while she was sleeping?

Scar looked at her with some sympathy. "relax, I know how to deal with animals. Ill protect and keep a look out while you sleep. I also know a comfortable place for you to sleep" he reassured her.

Nicole wasn't fully convinced. But she had to trust him. He was right, the sun as going down and she started to see the stars glowing in the early night sky. "okay..." she mumbled.

They started heading off the trail to an open area with only a couple of trees and a field of grass.
"is this were we are sleeping?" cloey asked.
"yes," scar responded. "it's the most comfortable place for girls like you. I'll go get some food, you two stay here." He ordered them then he ran off into the shadows of the woods.
"wonder what we're going to eat" cloey said
"well I hope it's not a herb because that's bound to be bitter." Nicole commented.
Cloey seemed to be focused on something else. Nicole followed her gaze and she was staring at the shadows scar disappeared into.
"is everything okay?" Nicole asked.
Cloey sighed. "I wanna be exactly like scar. he's so smart and brave and I wanna be like that." She admitted.
"I'm sure you will one day" Nicole reassured her but cloey didn't look convinced.
Scar came back with some sort of meat in his hand. He looked at cloey. "everything not going so swell eh?" he said.
"yeah..." cloey responded.
Scar sat down next to cloey. "what's going on?" he asked.
"it's just... I wanna be like you scar," she confessed. "your so brave and strong and smart. And I'll never be like that."
"sure you will!" Scar told her. Otherwise the stars wouldn't have chosen you."
Cloey seemed to brighten up after that. "yeah, your right. I'll be the most strong, brave and smartest person ever!"
Scar chuckled in amusement. "you two should get some sleep now, you have a huge journey that lies ahead"
"oh please" Nicole yawed.
"I'm too excited to sleep" cloey admitted.
"please try" Nicole told her.
Cloey didn't say anything she just started fidgeting with her hands. Nicole lied down in the grass and dead leaves. She just now noticed how exaughsted she was. Her vision was weary and She fell asleep right away in the night's shadows. She was too tired to worry about anything.
