I spent Winter Break with the Weasleys, Harry, Hermione and my Father at Grimmaulds Place, my father's childhood home.
Thanks to Harry, The Order was able to save Mr. Weasley from a snake so Mr. Weasley was able to spend Christmas with his family.
I sat beside Ginny on one side of the table. Ron sat on the other side of Ginny. Across from us was Hermione, Fred and George. Mr. Weasley sat in a wheel at the end of the table. Mrs. Weasley stood beside him.
Mrs. Weasley gave us all our presents. "Come on, open up. I want to see your faces", she said.
Ron got a fur jacket and the twins got scarfs. I opened my present to see a sweater with an "I" on it.
"Knitted it myself", Mrs. Weasley told me.
"Thank you", I said.
"Oh, you're welcome", Mrs. Weasley said.
I saw Harry walk into the room. I smiled at him. He smiled back.
"Ooh! Harry! Harry!" Mrs. Weasley said as she rushed over to him. "There you are. Happy Christmas". Mrs. Weasley gave him a hug. She gave him his present which was a red scarf.
"Toast!" Mr. Weasley called out. "A Christmas toast. To Mr. Harry Potter. Without him, I would not be here. Harry".
"Harry", We all said, raising our glass.
--
I wandered many days later and found a room. In the room, I found a painting on the wall.
It looked like a family tree.
I touched the painted wall. Harry walked into the room. Neither of us noticed Kreacher until he spoke. Well he kind of grumbled at first.
"Harry Potter, the boy who stopped the Dark Lord. Friend to Mudbloods and Blood traitors alike", Kreacher said. I glared at him.
"Kreacher!" Sirius shouted from the stairs. "Enough of your vile. Away with you!"
"Of course, master. Kreacher lives to serve the Noble House of Black", Kreacher said as he walked away.
My father came into the room. "Sorry about that. He never was very pleasant even when I was a boy. Not to me anyways", he said.
"You grew up here?" Harry asked.
I didn't pay much mind to their conversation. I looked at the family tree.
Was it...my family tree?
I touched one of the paintings. There was a name, but the person's picture was burn off.
"This is the Black family tree", Sirius said. I looked at him. I looked at a picture beside the burnt picture. I recognized the woman. Bellatrix. "My deranged cousin. I hated the lot of them".
"Bellatrix", I said.
I looked up to see another name with a burnt picture. The name tag said, "Sirius".
"My parents with their pureblood mania", My father said.
I looked at my father. "Your picture, it's burnt", I said. I sounded worried, but Sirius smiled. My father walked towards me. He looked at the burnt picture with his name.
"My mother did that after I ran away. Charming Woman", My father said. "I was 16".
"Where did you go?" Harry asked.
"To your Dad's. I was always welcomed at the Potter's. I see him so much in you, Harry. You are so very much alike", Dad said.
"I'm not so sure", Harry said. "Sirius, when I was...when I saw Mr. Weasley attacked, I wasn't just watching. I was the snake. And afterwards, in Dumbledore's office, there was a moment when I...I wanted to...this connection between me and Voldemort, what if the reason for it is because I am becoming more like him. I-I just feel so angry all the time. And what if, after everything I've been through, something's gone wrong inside me. What if I'm becoming bad?"
That's how I've been feeling since my dreams about Bellatrix.
"I don't believe you're going bad. You and Voldemort are nothing alike", I said.
"I want you to listen to me carefully, Harry", Sirius says. "You're not a bad person. You're a very good person who bad things have happened to. You understand?" Harry nodded. "Besides, the world isn't split into two. We've all got both light and dark inside of us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are".
Those are wise words.
"So, a person who chooses to be bad, they have good in them?" I asked.
"Of course", Sirius said.
"Even the Ministry? And Death Eaters?" I asked.
"Yes", Sirius said.
We heard a knock at the door. We looked at Hermione. "Harry. Iris. Time to go", She said.
It seems like I never have enough time with my father.
"When all this is over, we'll be a proper family", Sirius told me and Harry. He hugged us both. Harry walked out of the room with Hermione.
"I would like that. More than anything, you know, us as a family", I said. My father smiled at me. "Do you think one day, I could be on the family tree?"
Sirius looks at our family tree. He looked at me. "Perhaps someday", he said.
I followed Harry and Hermione. I left Grimmaulds Place, feeling less like this is a goodbye.
