Professor Suspicious

Nothing was the same. I was suspicious of our new defense against the dark Arts teacher, Umbridge. Most of Gryffindor didn't believe that Voldemort was back. I did. Me, Ron, Neville, Hermione, Ginny and the twins seemed to be the only ones who believed Harry.

For the first day of school, I was fully rested. Hopefully, I won't let death threats slip today. I still don't know where it came from.

My first class was Care of Magical Creatures with Hagrid. He was a good teacher.

The class was outside. We were learning about Nifflers. It was really adorable.

My next class was Potions with my least favorite teacher, Professor Snape.

I was working on a new potion which made me excited about Potions for the first time.

I want to create a potion that will show you someone's memories. I cut a few small strands of my hair.

"Miss Black", Snape said which made me jump. I didn't know he was behind me. "Are you trying to make a Polyjuice Potion?"

"No, sir", I said. "I'm...creating something new".

"Really? Creating something new?" Snape asked. The expression on his face said it was the silliest idea he had ever heard.

"It's like creating a new spell", I said.

"Creating a new spell and creating a new potion are two separate things", he said. I don't think Snape noticed me rolling my eyes. "And what does your new potion do exactly?"

"It shows you others memories", I said.

I poured my potion into a cup. I put my hair into it. I took a deep breath. Snape looked at me, interested. This is the first time he was interested in something I did.

I drank the potion. Nothing happened.

I sighed. "I thought it would work", I said.

"Well life is filled with disappointment, isn't it", Snape said. He almost sounded pleased that my potion failed.

I suddenly gasped for breath. A violent gasp came out of me.

Did I just kill myself?!

I dropped my cup. I looked up at the ceiling before I saw flashes. Visions. Then, I heard voices.

"Avada Kedevra!"

Then, an evil cackle. It was Bellatrix.

"What's happening to me?"

Then, a scream of agony. My scream.

"She killed him! She needs to suffer"

Bellatrix killed someone. How?

Catch me if you can

Bellatrix escaped Azkaban?!

"Irina".

I saw a pale hand grab mine. Draco.

"This pain you are feeling is really strong".

A voice of comfort. My voice.

I was back in the Potions room. I laid on the ground. I saw a face. Someone looking at me. I closed my eyes. When I opened them, my vision cleared.

"Irina Black", Dumbledore said.

"Professor", I said. "How long was I..."

"3 hours", Dumbledore said.

"What?" I asked.

"You screamed for 3 hours until we finally found a solution", Dumbledore said. "What were you trying to accomplish?"

"A potion that could reveal others memories, but I think I created a potion that shows someone's future. I heard myself scream in agony and...I saw Bellatrix", I said.

"Perhaps I should take you to the hospital wing", Dumbledore said.

"I'm fine, Professor", I said.

"Miss Black".

"I'm fine!" I shouted in anger. I was shocked by myself. I didn't mean for it to slip out. "I'm sorry, Professor. I...didn't mean to shout".

"Have you been feeling alright, Miss Black?"

"I think it's the potion", I said, but I knew it wasn't the potion. And by the look on Dumbledore's face, he knew it wasn't the potion too.

"I should get to the hospital wing", I said. I stood up and quickly walked out of the classroom.

As I walked to the hospital wing, I heard, "Hey Black!" I knew that voice. I continued walking.

Draco Malfoy walked beside me. "Is it true? Your new potion went wrong?" He asked.

"Leave me alone, Draco", I said.

"Oh you're calling me 'Draco' now. Don't pretend we're friends, Iris", Draco says.

"Oh, we're not friends. So never call me Iris. Just because we're cousins, it doesn't mean we're friends", I said. We both stopped walking. I bit my lower lip after I realized what I had said.

"What are you on about?" Draco asked.

"One of my grandparents had a sibling and that sibling had a woman named Andromeda, Bellatrix Lestrange and your mom, Narsissa Malfoy", I said in one breath.

Usually I'm good at keeping secrets, but now, I sounded like a blabbermouth.

"You and I are cousins. My father is your cousin, your mom is my cousin and Bellatrix is your aunt", I said.

"I'm related to you?" Draco asked. I nodded. "That's..."

"Horrible", Me and Draco said in union.

"What's worse is that we agree with each other", I said. "This doesn't change anything, right?"

"Right", Draco said before he walked away. I continued to the hospital wing.

--

Luckily, I didn't have to stay in the hospital wing tonight. I was back in the Gryffindor common room tonight. I sat in front of the fire, thinking about today.

"What's wrong with your hand?" Hermione asked Harry. I looked at him.

"Nothing", Harry said.

"Other hand, Smarty", I said as I grabbed his left hand. I gasped. Engraved on his hand was, "I must not tell a lie". He just finished his detention with Umbridge.

"This is Umbridge's doing", I said.

"You have to tell Dumbledore", Hermione said. I nodded in agreement.

"No. Dumbledore's got enough on his mind right now", Harry said. "Anyways, I don't want to give Umbridge satisfaction".

"Bloody hell, Harry. The women's torturing you", Ron said. "If my parents knew about this-"

"Yeah, well I haven't got any of those, have I, Ron?" Harry asked.

"Harry, you've got to report this. It's perfectly simple", Hermione said.

"No, it's not", Harry said. "Hermione, whatever this is, it's not simple. You don't understand".

"Then, help us to", Hermione says.

But Harry grabbed his things and walked away.

Like I said, things will never be the same.
