The streamer let out a loud yawn. It must have been late at night at that point, roughly 2 A.M. . Her coffee mug has been empty for a long time at this point, leaving her nothing to keep her going but her iron will. But like most metals, this iron will doesn't last long as it slowly erodes and rusts away. Creating cracks until finally broken. That's what she is right now, broken, pulling a couple all nighters and pushing herself to the limits. Standard habit in her eyes.
It was like she waited for something, for someone. Perhaps out of habit really as that thing was her stop sign. It forces a stops to her routine like breaks in a car. But she knows that person isn't going to come. No matter how hard she wanted it to be fake. She's now in a far away place, unreachable for time being. So she gave up, finally retiring to her bedroom as she grabbed a beer. Drinking until the sun came up as she passed out in an exhaustive peace. Restarting the process once more the next day.————————-
Calli opened the lights to her place as Kiara entered through the door. The roomed looked messy. The suitcases Calli left were the only thing organized, neatly placed by the corner along with a small piles of clothes, packets of snacks and towels scattered the room carelessly. Though she's only been there for a few days it felt like a month's worth of mess all placed in a collective location. It was like a person died in there both figuratively and literally.
Kiara let out a sigh as she pulled up imaginary sleeves walking towards the suitcases. Very messy. Classic Calli. Kiara's used to messes like these as she has been accustomed to going to Calli's apartment in Japan over hundreds of times. She's seen worse but she never expected Calli to bring these types of messes to hotels or Airbnb's even more abroad.
Finally finished folding the clothes in the near perimeter around the suitcases Calli comes up and brings her own stack of newly folded (not cleaned for a couple weeks) clothes. She broke the silence as they began conversation. It was nothing much really, mostly irrelevant banter between best friends, laughing at inside joke, telling antics as they continued packing things into the suitcase.
"You know Kiara, for a while I felt quite lonely in Japan without you." Calli said as she stared at the stain on one of her clothes. It was one of the gifts Kiara gave her, a silhouette of a chicken as its main front and center piece. She couldn't recognize why there was a stain really but as far as she knew the stain wasn't alcohol, it was tears.
"I felt a bit empty really, who knew you left a mark on me other than being a chaotic distraction to my work" Calli spoke chuckling, trying to keep her speech as light as possible.
Kiara looked at Calli, listening quietly with a concerning face. She knows that Calli can get emotional heck, she is to. She knows that Calli is putting a front right now. Slipping bits of her pain in a facade of a light conversation. Kiara put her hand on Calli's slowly massaging her palm by leaving small circled pattern.
"And holy cow I drank a lot you have no-" Calli stopped in her speech flinching at the touch of Kiara's hand. It felt warm in her palm. The massage gave her a shiver up her spine as she gave a deep gulp. "I was in an all time low. The only thing that kept me going at times was the excessive amounts of alcohol and coffee I drank. Thank God I'm immortal because holy shit it was like a lot a lot."
Calli looked at Kiara. Her face near to breaking point, trying to keep the tears from dripping. "I missed you a lot Kusotori."
Kiara couldn't do it anymore. Her gesture wasn't enough. She broke into hugging Calli leaning close as she hugged her tightly. Calli let out small muffled moans as she wrapped her arms onto Kiara's back, taking in the warmth of Kiara's naturally warm body. It tickled Calli's cold skin like a fireplace on a cold winter night. She released it all. Her pain, her burn out, her frustration of trying to find Kiara in such a large neighborhood as it doesn't matter anymore. Kiara's finally returned to her arms.————————-
The two dragged the suitcases down the stairs giving loud clunks at every step. They could have used the elevator but unfortunately it was currently being renovated and was going to be finished by next week.
Finally leaving the building Kiara felt a cold touch at her empty palm. As she looked up she noticed Calli glancing away from her with a bit of red creeping at her cheeks.
"Thank you for. Uhmmm. Everything Kusotori. I really needed it.
Kiara's face lighted up as if it was Christmas Day.
"No problem Calli!"
