Stepping out of that musty white vehicle had been the best feeling I had felt in a while. We had been in the car for 10 1/2 hours. We drove from Detroit, Michigan to Minneapolis, Minnesota, my dad got a good job offer here which means we had to pack up all our stuff and move to a completely new place. Hopefully I can get a new start here, let's just say things weren't all rainbows and unicorns for me back in Detroit, but I did miss the few friends that I had managed to keep.

I had a good feeling about this place though, I heard they had a really good hockey program which is a good thing. I had been playing hockey since I was 5, after my parents had accidentally signed me up for hockey instead of softball, I had fallen in love with the game.

"Annalise, can you come help me with these boxes real quick?" I heard my mother call from the back of the trailer we had hauled behind our car. "They're too heavy for me, especially your boxes, what is in here anyways? Rocks?"

I let out a small giggle as I started making my way to the end of the driveway. For a second I thought I caught a glimpse of someone watching us, I shook it off, it's probably just a curious neighbor.

I took a step inside the place I would have to call home for who knows how long. My dad always seemed to be getting a new job offer, he promised that we would stay here though. I doubt it, he always says that, look where we are now.

The place looked like it hadn't been touched in years, it was covered in cobwebs and smelled dusty. I wasn't exactly in a rush to see my room. I heard my dad walk up behind me, I could envision his nose scrunching as he looked around. My dad is a very predictable person.

"Well, it's gonna be a work in progress, but it'll do." he said with a sigh. It was clear he wasn't happy. We had just gotten used to our life in Michigan, and then dad got the call that we would have to move to Minnesota. I can't really complain, he could though. He had seemed to really like Michigan, who knows why. It was cold(Minnesota won't be any better though), everyone there seemed to be so grumpy, and the bugs were terrible. I don't know what he saw in the place.

"Mhm, cobwebs have to go first, I can't stay here if we have spider roommates." I said turning towards my dad. Long story short I have really bad arachnophobia. I can't stand the thought of staying near spiders. They're so gross, with all their little legs and eyes. They're scary too, especially the fact that they can basically get into any space they see.

"Definitely." my dad wasn't a fan of spiders either, when I was around 8 he saw a spider on his ceiling in the middle of the night. I remember him screaming and crying at my mom to kill it, he slept in the living room that night.

I walked back outside to look for the cleaning supplies so I could clean up a bit. I'm a very organized person, I don't understand how some people can look at a mess and just walk away from it. I could never, even if I tried.

I grabbed the box of supplies and made my way back inside. I had a lot of work to do and I knew I wouldn't get it done if I took my time out here. I opened the door with my foot and slowly shut it behind me. I grabbed the duster and quickly got to work.
