Chapter 34

I woke up the next day at 4:15am. When I woke up I forgot why I had set an alarm. I looked at my phone and saw a message from Rick, then I remembered.

Rick Riley - Bring your game uniform, I will literally murder you if you're late.

Anna Banana - Okay, okay, I won't be late.

I threw my uniform in a duffel bag and left my room. I ran down the stairs and wrote a little note for my parents, then I grabbed a few apple slices and left at 4:36am.

I put on my roller blades and rode to campus. 

I got to the rink and took my blades off. I put them in my duffel bag and walked inside. Nobody was in the lobby or the rink room so I went to the locker room, wasn't shocked to see the whole team there.

"Why are we here?" I asked. I was so confused.

"We have to show those Ducks not to mess around with varsity, we're gonna whip them. They think they're so tough, they have to prove it."

"What did they do?" 

"They put biting ants in our dorm rooms." Martin said(I just made up Martin, I have no clue who he is and I have no clue what he looks like).

"Oh, uh."

"Get ready, we're going out there in a minute." Rick said. I hurried over to my space and set my duffel bag. It didn't take me long to get my stuff on. They had started leaving though, except Adam, he waited for me, but it wasn't a long wait because I'm not super slow like him.

We made our way to the rink, the Ducks were on their half of the ice. I did some warm ups and made my way to the bench, coach rarely starts me so I don't think I would start in this game.

Julie was skating on the side, and Goldberg was in the goal, that's weird, Julie's the starting goalie.

"Hey Julie, I am so sorry about the dinner thing. I truly didn't know they were gonna do that and if I knew I wouldn't have left."

"Yea whatever." she responded blandly. Did she not believe me?

"Do you not believe me? Do you think I'm lying to you? Julie why would I lie about that??"

"I don't know Anna, you say you hate Rick and then two minutes later you and him are best friends. You left us to do dirty work to pay off that dinner and didn't even message me saying 'sorry'"

"Julie, I'm saying sorry right now. In person is better then over the phone, you know I think that, I've always thought that!" 

"I also thought that you actually cared about us, its been 3 months, school has been going on for 3 months and you've barely even talked to me and Ken, to any of the ducks, or any of the other friends you've made! That's not how friends are Anna!" We were in a full on argument. I did not want to be arguing with Julie right now, she's my best friend, I can't lose her.

"I couldn't, varsity has rules ya know! If you don't follow them you don't get played during games."

"Is that the only thing you care about right now? Playing time?"

"No, but we came here for hockey, so I wanna play hockey!"

"Anna! Come on, you're starting cut the chit chat." Rick called.

I looked at Julie one more time before going to my spot. Rick and Charlie were doing face off, Rick placed the puck down and they started.

Rick shoved Charlie down and headed towards their goal. It wasn't long before he shot it in, and made it. That was quick, 2 seconds in and we already have a goal.

A few goals later and we were up by 3. The ducks had shot some shots, but none went in. 

We had the puck again and were racing down the ice. Out of nowhere someone on our team came and shoved Golberg out of the way. Rick got the puck and shot it in.

"What was that?!" I said as I skated closer to the goal, sure we had made a goal, but we just cheated!

"Calm down Roberts we just got a goal." Cole said.

"We just cheated!" I said.

"Come one Charlie let me at him!" Connie said, Varsity was standing in a group looking at the ducks, who were also in a group. Rick just looked at Connie and laughed. Charlie pulled her away from the group.

"We can't win if they're going to cheat!" Connie said. Charlie patted her shoulder.

"Just keep skating, don't show them you're hurt." he said, captain Charlie. I wonder if Orion gave him his C back or not.

They skated back to their positions, we all did too. They placed the puck in the center and began. Shocker, Rick got it again. He didn't have it for long though, Charlie swerved right in front of him and took it. Adam and I both went for him. Adam made it to him first because he is a faster skater then me. I got there a second after though, but the moment I got to him I was shoved down, my feet flew in the air and my back hit the ice, hard.

I groaned in pain as I got up. I looked at the goal. 

"*Damn*-it Banks!" Charlie yelled and shoved Adam to the ground, causing them both to fall. I skated over to the goal, when I got there I snowed them a bit. They both got up.

"Yea nice take-out you'd be in the box!" Adam yelled.

"Go cry to your rich parents!" Charlie yelled back, shoving Adam.

"Alright fine!" Adam said, by now most of both teams were over here. Charlie wrapped his arm around Adam's neck and brought them both to the ground. Suddenly everyone was fighting with everyone, except me, Julie, and Goldberg, who were both still coming over here. 

I shuffled my way out of the group, falling on my butt after squeezing in between 2 people. I got back up quickly, Julie was standing, looking at the group. Out of nowhere there was a loud 'bang' and someone with an even louder voice was yelling.

"Everyone freeze!" he yelled as he skated over. He grabbed Ricks by his jersey. "You're lucky I'm not your coach now get you and your team out!" he said as he threw Rick. It was coach Orion. "Varsity out let's go!" he said as he started pushing the varsity out of the way.

I skated behind Adam after he got thrown. He looked back which made me look back too. Orion was yelling at JV. 

"Now they know they own you." He said.
