Chapter 17

It had been a month since the kiss and a month since I had seen Julie and Ken. I messaged them both everyday, communication is a big thing in long distance friendships. Adam and I had hung out everyday for the rest of summer. We weren't dating or anything but we both knew we liked each other. Adam, Ken and Julie all had their 14th birthday, pfft, my birthday wasn't till September 3rd so, of course, I'm still 13.

Cat Lady - I can't believe school is starting soon, there's nothing good about it. It means we don't get to talk ALLLL day :(

Anna Banana - Yea :(  and hockey will start again and we won't be on the same team because of, ya know, distance :(((

Cat Lady - I hadn't even thought about that, dang

Cat Lady - hold up my moms calling me

Anna Banana - Kk

Cat Lady - I got a letter, from some place down by you guys, Edan Hall. Lemme read it rq

Anna Banana - Tell me what it says

Cat Lady - Wait I'm gonna call you, you'd better pick up.

INCOMING CALL FROM 'Cat Lady'

"Okay, okay, okay lemme open the letter." Julie said, I could hear her opening it through the phone.  "Congratulations, you have been selected to receive a full ride hockey scholarship TO EDAN HALL ACADEMY!!!!" I heard her scream. She was excited. I was excited for her, I was clapping, and screaming with her. I was proud of her.

"LOOK IN THE MAIL SEE IF YOU GOT ANYTHING!!" She cried out, I immediately jumped up and ran out of my room, I slammed the door open and ran out to our mailbox, with my phone still in my hand. I was too busy to see Adam skate up on his roller blades. 

"There's some letters in here, lemme see." I said, putting the phone under my ear and leaning my head so it wouldn't fall. "Dad, dad, mom, dad, uhhh" I said while flipping through the letters. I turned my head and saw Adam looking with me, I didn't mind it, it's not like he's gonna snoop through our bills or try to. But I didn't know he was there, so I jumped.

"Oh my gosh Adam you scared me!" I said while slapping him with the letters. I heard Julie laugh. 

"Keep looking!" Adam said, doing a pushing hand motion. I'm guessing he got one too.

"Okay, okay!" I said. "Mom, mom, dad, ME!" I said. "C'mon!" I said while motioning for Adam to come inside, he ran in front of me and opened the door, my hands were full so it's a good thing he did. I ran into the kitchen, dropped all the letters except for mine, and put my phone on speaker while placing it on the counter.

I teared it opened and skimmed it with my eyes, OH MY GOSH YES!! I READ AS THE LETTER TOLD ME I HAD GOTTEN A HOCKEY SCHOLARSHIP.

"AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" I screamed while jumping up and down. I heard Julie scream and Adam jumped with me. 

"WHAT?!? WHAT'S WRONG?!" My mom yelled while running into the kitchen. I ran over to her and shoved the letter in her face. "OH MY GOSH! WOW THAT'S AMAZING!" She said covering her mouth with her hands. She gave me a tight hug, then hugged Adam too. My mom liked Adam, she thought he was a very nice and respectable kid.

"School starts in a week and a half so you better get your but here!" I told Julie.

"My mom already got me plane tickets, my flight leaves in two days! Can I stay with you guys till school starts? It said that the school will have dorms but I don't think that's until school starts." She asked. I looked at my mom and she nodded.

"Yea of course!" I said, I could here her jump off her bed.

"Okay, okay, okay, Help me pack. I'm gonna need like, a lot of clothes."
