Eliminators

You left Rembrandt and asked him if he could tell the others if they asked; where you had gone. You knew Swan would have no issue with this, in fact it might have made him ease up a bit.

You had boarded the train already and had left your vest at home; wearing a pair of red overalls with a yellow long sleeved top underneath. You blended in well.

Fifty minutes went by and your train had stopped at the station. You hopped off and walked down a decently crowded street; listening to the shops and stores play the radio over the buzz of people.

You looked around and decided to have a smoke out front of a couple bars. You pulled out a pack of smokes from your pocket, and a couple matches too. You lit up the end of your square and puffed on that for a minute or so, before moving to the next area. No one was saying much.

People tended to gossip about things happening in their city if it meant something might happen to them; like turf wars, curfews, etc. So listening out for people talking about an upcoming rumble on their streets, was something expected.

As you were getting tired of moving spots, playing cool, and listening out for something and coming up empty handed; you saw a couple Eliminators. You could tell from their yellow bomber jackets.

You perked up at this and watched them for awhile. They didn't seem to do much, except hit on a couple bunnies that walked by and light up a couple joints.

At one point one of them looked over at you, but quickly took his attention away when the other boy laughed something in his ear. You considered making a move on them, but remembered Swan asked you to lay low the first night. So you did.

You continued to eye them carefully while two others joined them after about twenty minutes or so. You stayed leaning up against the brick wall behind you, watching as they joked around, and then turning to more serious matters.

They had stopped laughing when someone who looked like the leader joined up. You must have gotten lucky. You couldn't hear anything from where you were, but it looked like they were discussing something real serious. You felt your stomach flutter.

You were almost finished your last smoke, and decided you'd come back tomorrow or the next night, to get some real info. You stomped out the butt, and looked at them one last time before leaving. As you looked up you noticed a couple of the boys had looked away from your direction, and begin laughing.

You looked down at your outfit as you began walking away; not realizing what was so funny about the way you looked. You brushed it off; they were just stuck up. Maybe they weren't even laughing at you. You smirked to yourself at how egotistical you were being.

You were back at the station in a few minutes or so, and hopped onto the next train headed Coney way. You sat down on a seat facing the stairs; and saw an Eliminator walk up them as your train took off. You rolled your eyes at yourself in anger. If you had stayed just a minute more, maybe you would have actually seen or heard something worth reporting; instead you had a great story of them talking, about nothing you could hear.

You arrived back home after an hour, and walked up the stairs into your outfit. As soon as you opened the door, Rembrandt in his room directly to the left of it, called out for you. "Hear anything?" He called, standing up from his mattress. You looked over and stopped, shaking your head. "Nothin'. Saw a few of them though." You said. He didn't look too relieved. "What's with the long face?" You asked, standing in his doorway. He shrugged. "Well, doesn't that mean you'll have to try and flirt with them or somethin' next time?" He asked. You nodded. "Trust me Rembrandt. I can handle myself, stop worrying. It's all of us you should be worrying about." You said, grimacing at the thought. Maybe you would have to go tomorrow; the sooner the better. "I just wish you didn't have to go alone." He said.
