It had been a few weeks since you became a real Warrior. You had done a few tasks here and there, but nothing huge. It was mostly watching your brothers do deals, stealing things here and there, and getting a bad rep around town.
Ajax and you avoided one another at all costs. You hated him for splitting with you, and he was too stubborn to come back; though you could tell he wanted to. You both knew you had to move on, considering the circumstances, at least for now. Fox and you still didn't bond, but you knew that was never going to change. Truthfully the only thing that was weird between you and anyone else, was you and Vermin.
When you two stitched one another and had almost kissed; it changed the way you two talked to each other. Things were awkward now. You thought that after you were no longer with Ajax, you wouldn't feel guilt, or temptation anymore. But it was the opposite. You wanted him more, and you seemed to think he did too. But you wouldn't stay in the same room with him alone, not without Ajax; you didn't trust yourself.
It was nearing your night patrol, and you had just finished eating. The boys and yourself left Mercy alone to keep an eye on the crib. You opened the doors up to Coney, throwing on your new vest. You heard Swan in the front, along with Fox call out in anger. "When the hell was this!" Fox was real mad. You pushed your way past Snow to see.
The brick firehouse with your tag on it had been vandalized. Instead of 'The Warriors' being there, there was now a 'Destroyers' tag overtop. "Those fuckin' wimps!" Ajax spat. "Swan, what are we gonna do about this?" Snow asked. Swan didn't answer right away. "We check out how many more there are." He finally said. "Ajax, Vermin. Go check out closer to the East side, Cowboy and Cochise. You check out the other end and report back to us. They nodded and hustled down the street, disappearing into darkness.
Swan turned to the reaming of your group. "Fox and Snow. I need you two to hit as many shops as you can, and grab us as much paint as you can carry. We're gonna cover these up tonight." He said. "All of em?" Rembrandt asked from beside you, dauntingly. "Yes. All." Swan firmed. "Don't worry Rembrandt." He said, noticing Rembrandt's look of dread. "Red will help you." You looked at him in shock. "I've seen your work. You left your book open a few nights ago." He admitted.
You were surprised he looked through them. But nodded in agreement all the same. "You two wait here. I'm gonna make rounds." He said, leaving you two alone.
You and Rembrandt chatted up, talking over plans for the cover up. You had some ideas that would look real good, making 'Warriors' stand out more than before. "Yeah I agree. What if there was black around the white outline?" Rembrandt said, excited to be talking to someone else about this stuff.
"Yeah that would be good. I think we should take this opportunity to start fresh though. Why not use the skull and wings as a base too?" You asked.
"Good idea." Swan said from behind you two. You both turned around; he was alone. "Looks like they got more than a few hanging around. They got us good." He said, shaking his head. "Sorry. I know this is my fault." You said, remembering your initiation. "No one's fault. That's the life of a Warrior; you fight for your turf." He said. There was a moment of silence, and he spoke again. "I think we'll split you two up tonight. The faster we get these covered up, the better." You and Rembrandt looked at one another disappointed, but agreed.
After half an hour or so, Ajax and Vermin returned. You, Swan, and Rembrandt stood up to hear their news. "Looks like they got em' all down the East side." Vermin said. "No surprise there. Gonna be a lot of work." He kicked the ground. "I say we go over there right now and bust their heads!" Ajax threatened, looking between Swan and Vermin. He was much angrier lately, if it were possible. "Smart idea big boy." Fox mocked, walking up to your group with Snow; boxes of paint in hand. You and Rembrandt walked over to meet them, pulling out cans and stuffing them in your clothes.
