I stand up on my human legs and glance over at Hera. I try not to show off too much of my naked body, as I see her stare, even though it sends a thrill through me. I know she isn't able to respond in a way I can comprehend, but I decide to talk to her, knowing that she will at least understand me.

"Hera, I guess this is you. I know you may be confused as to what we are doing up here on this hill, and what that strange stone is.". She looks up at me with soft eyes, and I can feel the blood rushing up to my face. I clear my throat, trying to regain my posture, and continue; "I promise I will explain everything more in-depth, but the time is running out right now, so I will just tell you the basics.". She seems to understand me and sits down as I explain.

"This is the place of the Wolf in the Moon. At this very moment, we are able to make one wish that will be granted. I will ask for him to grant us access to communicate. I do not know how it will be possible, but it will, so just trust me on this, okay?". She nods with her big wolf head, which makes the tip of her remaining ear flip forward, and then back in place. I smile at the sight but turn my back on her to face the stone. I put my hands on it, which sends a chill through me. I can feel the rough surface underneath my fingers as I look up into the sky and shout: "I would like to make a wish!".

I wait for a second to see if anything happens, but as the sky doesn't change, I continue: "I would like to be able to communicate with the wolf standing here beside me". I feel the stone beginning to rumble and change temperature. I take a step back, wondering what will happen now. I look back at Hera, who is now shaking her head furiously as if she has bugs in her ears. She throws herself down at the ground and starts scratching her ears with her paws. At this moment I begin feeling it too. It's a strange buzzing sound coming from both inside and outside my head. I become dizzy and my mind foggy. I fall to the ground and put my hands up to my ears, trying to keep the sound out, but to no avail. I scream in frustration, as I feel like my head is about to explode, and through the loud buzzing, I hear Hera whimpering and howling.

And then in the blink of an eye, the sound is gone. My head is clear, and I look around confused. What was that? I look over at Hera, who has the same confused look in her eyes. We lock eyes, and that's when I hear her.

"What just happened?", she asks, but I don't know if she actually knows that I heard her.

"Hera?" I ask in my head but addressing my thoughts to her. She opens her eyes wide.

"Kai? Can you hear me?", she asks surprised. I nod back at her while smiling. A warm fussy feeling streams through my body. I'm in a form of ecstasy from hearing her voice. Even though it's in my head, I can hear her loud and clear, as if she was standing right in front of me and talking. Her voice is soft and calming but with a hint of maturity, signing that she has been through some stuff. She interrupts my train of thoughts, as she continues: "I have never ever talked to anyone before, aside from Athena of course.". At this, she sounds a bit sad, but also excited.

"About that. I would like to know what the deal is with you and Athena. Are you two different persons?", I ask confused.

"Well, yes, the eldest in our pack thinks that we may have been twins in the womb, but one of us absorbed the other, so now we share a body.". She looks down, and I can sense that she is nervous, probably from what my reaction might be. I bet no one has ever believed them before when they have explained it. I kneel and put my hand on the side of her head, right below her missing ear.

"Don't worry, I believe you. I don't know how it's possible, but I can just feel that you are telling the truth.". She looks up at me and I blush, damning myself for these strange feelings inside my chest. I remove my hand and look away, trying to hide my face.

"You feel it too, don't you?", she asks, never removing her eyes from me. I look at her confused, so she continues. "The feeling of overwhelming happiness. I can feel it throughout my body, and so can you, right?". I smile, happy that my feelings are reciprocated. That's when I remember what my parents have told me about their feelings toward each other. This must be the mate bond. I freak out, not knowing whether she knows it too, or if I should even tell her. I don't know her, and I don't know how this could even work out, with her sharing a body with her sister.

"It's the mate bond, right?", she asks as if she had read my thoughts. She looks down. She could probably sense how I was freaking out. I feel bad for seeing her like this.

"I think so, yes. But I don't think we could even be mates, as you are sharing a body and all...". I can feel how hurt she is. She slowly stands up and turns her side to me. She looks out over the side of the hill with a faraway look in her eyes. She then looks over at me, and when I don't do anything, she looks back down on the grass and takes a step down the side of the hill. The thought of her leaving pains me, and I try with all my might to find a way to make her stay while still battling with my own emotions, that I don't even understand. Every step she takes further down the hill and away from me sends a ripping wave of hurt through my chest.

"Wait!" I shout out loud, while quickly getting on my feet. She turns her head to look at me. "I think there might be a way..."
