I can feel the lump in my throat and knot in my stomach as I consider the possibility, that Hera and Kai may not have gotten far enough away before I let out my scream. Especially with their heightened sense of hearing. I don't even know anything about what a banshee is, like how far does their scream even reach?

"No, no I don't think so. Now don't worry about that, Buttercup, you won't achieve anything by worrying.". Dom breaks into my destructive train of thought with these words. I sniffle and wipe my nose with the back of my hand.

"I told you to not call me that..." I say silently, secretly happy that he brought an end to my thoughts. I take a deep sigh and then exhale, trying to banish my sadness. I shouldn't even be sad. They left me. The realization only really hits me then. They LEFT me?! How could they do that to me? And Kai... He had lied to us the entire time. His plan the entire time had always been to have us killed. And now he is alone with Hera, bringing her into all sorts of danger. And I'm here unable to do anything... I feel the tears come back with a vengeance.

"Hey," Dom says, getting up from the chair, and taking the cookies out of my hand to put on the bedside table. Then he grabs both of my cheeks with his strong, cold hands. "You can't change anything now. You need to get out of your head and look forward. The past is the past. You can't let it destroy you.". I'm in awe at his sweet words. I stare at him dumbfounded, not sure what to do or say.

"What do you know about that?" I just ask, still with a bit of the anger lingering while pushing his hands away from my face. He just sighs and sits back down in the chair. He tucks one of his legs up on the chair and lets his arm rest on his knee in an easy and superior pose.

"I told you I was from Scotland. What I didn't tell you, was that I had to leave because of... well a lot of things. It doesn't matter. The point is, if I had kept going around in circles feeling sorry for myself, I would never have traveled here. And then you would never have had your knight in shining armor." The last part is added with a hint of humor, as he looks at me with a slightly amused sparkle in his eyes. I just roll my eyes and turn to stretch after the cookies on the night table.

"Yeah, yeah, I see your point," I answer him, still not completely rid of the bad feelings, but trying my damndest to take his advice and not get stuck with an inability to act. I take a huge bite, successfully having devoured one of the two cookies. I realize, that Dom may not be the big bad wolf (ironic really), that we all thought all vampires to be. Yeah, he is absolutely full of himself, but at least I see a very, very, very small sign, that he might actually care what happens to me.

I think for a second before splitting the last cookie into two and extending one half to Dom.

"Truce?" I ask. Dom just looks at me for a second, before smiling big. He leans forward and grabs the cookie out of my hand with his teeth. An amused look is playing in his eyes, and at my dumbfounded look and flushed cheeks, he winks at me. I clear my throat and shake my head slightly.

"So, uhm. You want us to travel to your pack?" I ask after collecting myself, still not daring to look him in the eye.

"My clan, yes. We don't do 'packs'. That is bellow us." I choose to ignore his jab. He sees my offended look, however.

"Don't look so sour, you are not a wolf." He says while wiping around his mouth with one finger, before sucking the bits of chocolate off it. "Hm. This actually tastes okay. I thought it would be way too sweet for me. Must be high-quality chocolate." He says this more to himself, or at least, I don't really pay any attention to it. I'm still thinking about his previous statement.

"Yeah, well, I was a 'wolf' until the day before yesterday, so I have a right to be annoyed." He just waves my comment away with his hand and clears his throat.

"Anyway, yes, I think we should go to the council. But not until tomorrow. I may not necessarily need sleep, but they have uttered, that they won't see me unless I'm on my best behavior, and for that, I need my beauty sleep.". It doesn't sound like it is up for discussion, and honestly, I could really need the sleep as well. I wipe my mouth with the napkin and try to get as many crumbs out of the bed as possible. I cannot physically sleep in a dirty bed.

Even though it's only a bit past noon, judging by the little alarm clock on the nightstand, I'm hammered and ready to sleep the next 18 or so hours away. I get up from the bed prepared to take off my trousers to only sleep in the flannel. However, I'm stopped as I look over the bed and see Dom pulling off his T-shirt.

"Excuse me?! What do you think you are doing?". My question makes Dom stop mid-motion and let go of the shirt, so it falls down around his body again. He looks at me confused.

"What does it look like? Getting comfy for bed." He says as if it is the most obvious answer in the world.

"Nu-uh, you find another place to sleep, I said this bed was mine," I say without any indication that I will let this be up for discussion. He stands there for a second looking like he wants to fight back, but I just stare daggers at him and point my finger towards the door.

"Out." I say in a stern tone. He just sighs and bends in a mock bow.

"M'lady." He says before turning around and marching out. I sigh in relief and follow him to lock the door after him. Once I'm sure I'm alone, I begin undressing again and jump into the warm and cozy bed. Before long I drift off again.
