My blood drains from my face. I need to stall time as much as possible. I don't know if that will save us, but it might just keep us alive for just a little time longer. The druids don't seem to be in a rush, so I decide, that I should take some deep breaths and collect my thoughts into a plan.

What could I ask them, to stall time the most? They may have answered my questions, but honestly, I don't understand their answers... I get an idea. I don't know if it will even work, but it might be worth a shot.

"Can you show me everything leading up to this moment?" I ask them with a little doubt in my voice. This must answer all the questions I have, right? They just stare at me for a little time, and I begin to wonder if they even heard me. Then all of a sudden the tallest druid stands up and floats towards me. Har grabs my skull with both of his long hands and brings his skull head incredibly close to mine. He comes so close, that the only thing I can see are his eyes staring blankly into my soul. Then I feel myself being swarmed with images.

I see images of a large group of druids standing in a circle all looking down at something together. The next image is of the same scene, but closer to the thing they are observing. It shows a large table or altar made out of rock, and on it a book filled with scribbles and symbols. around it are candles and different trinkets like gemstones, necklaces, and bones. One of the druids is chanting something from the book, while their long black finger follows the lines they are reading aloud. Lights pulsate out from the book, and into the rock, which travels further down the table.

The next image shows where the pulsating lights are going. It is a naked woman lying on the table and bound by her hands and feet. She is pregnant, and for each pulsating light, her stomach convulses and lights up. You can see the outlines of the fetus inside her. Slowly though, another silhouette appears beside the fetus and absorbs it, leaving back only the one that manifested. The woman screams in pain and agony, as she goes into labor, and I see, that it is our mother.

The next image is of Kai running in the woods with tears streaming down his cheeks, and blood all over his clothes and hands. He is breathing raggedly, as he is crying. Two other men are running a bit behind him, also in the same state as him with blood everywhere. In glimpses I see, as first the one man, then the other is suddenly dragged backward and you hear screaming. Kai cries harder and covers his ears while running faster. He suddenly stumbles over a root and flies forward.

The next image shows him looking up at the three druids. One of them extends a hand to lift him up, and as soon as Kai grabs it, the vampires that were hunting him contort and combust, before they fall dead to the ground. Kai looks back over his shoulder at the scene with fear in his eyes, before he returns his eyes to the druids.

The next image shows Kai sitting at the same stone altar as before, and one of the druids handing him a piece of paper, urging him to sign it. Kai looks at the paper with concern in his eyes, and then up at the druids. "A contract?" he asks. The druid nods and says "Eye for an eye. We helped you. You help us. We need them back.". Kai hesitantly looks back down at the contract. He slowly lifts the pen and signs with his own blood.

The next image shows Kai close to the Blood Moon pack's territory. He has the contract with him and he reads it aloud "Bring Athena from the Blood Moon Pack to us alive", before he folds it and puts it in his pocket again.

The images seize, and I fall forward while trying to catch my breath, which I must have held. I try to gather my thoughts. The druids somehow made Hera and I and then wanted Kai to bring us back as payment for helping him kill the vampires, that must have killed his pack. But why make us, and why bring us back? I ask them this.

"To experiment. Can you create a new supernatural being? We did. Now the Gods want you back as a sacrifice." They answer very matter-of-factually. Doesn't really make sense still, but I don't think they are going to give me a more direct answer.

Instead, I ask "What kind of supernatural being were we?"

"We created a banshee-werewolf" they answer with the first sign of emotion I have heard; pride. Banshee?

"What is a banshee?" I ask confused while casting a glimpse at Hera.

"It is you." They answer, not indicating that they want to elaborate on that answer.

"But we are not together anymore. We are no longer this 'banshee-werewolf' anymore?" I say instead, still very confused about why they want to sacrifice us, if we are no longer what they made.

"An unfortunate turn of events. Doesn't change the plan." They state. I'm about to ask more questions, but they suddenly stand up. "No more questions. Time is running.". They cut Hera and me free and lift us up. They start to walk with us, while I try to free myself from their grasp. Hera is growling and biting out after them, and Kai runs up after them.

"But stop! She is my mate! You can't sacrifice her!" Kai yells after them in a panic. They don't react and keep on walking. I look to see where they are taking us and see the alter from the images. I need to stall them.

"Why patch us up, if you are just going to sacrifice us?!" I yell in a desperate attempt at getting them on other thoughts.

"The Gods want their sacrifices whole." They continue walking. Well so much for trying to stop them. I become more and more panicked and grasp at loose treads, just to find something to stop them.

They throw us down on the altar and bind us for the third time. I start crying, pulling, and resisting with all my might, but nothing works. I start screaming in frustration, which makes all the druids tense up and look directly at me. They all scramble to get over to me and silence me. In the slight chaos, I notice that they haven't tied Hera down yet, and she quickly gets up and jumps off the altar with a suppressed yelp of pain. Out of the side of my eye, I see Kai picking her up and sprinting off with her. They left me alone with these monsters, that wish to kill me.

The realization dawns on me, that I am all alone with no one to help me. A memory of the vision I had flashed before my eyes. I suddenly realized what that vision was. It was the druid that dug into my chest and pulled my still-beating heart out of my body. All blood leaves my head and a sense of impending doom settles in my stomach.

All I can do is scream.
