I frantically look around, not sure whether I should hide or run. Kai grabs my arm and pulls me towards the backdoor that we came in from.

"What about the mess that we've made? He will know that someone has been here!", I try to protest. Kai just continues with me in his hand.

"It's better for us to leave now than stay. I don't want a confrontation. We don't know if he has a weapon." Kai says plainly. I get free of his grasp and run towards the backdoor. Hera is already waiting outside, and we quickly join her, just as we hear the man yell in frustration, probably from seeing the condition, in which we left his cabin. I hear a shotgun cock and widen my eyes in disbelief.

"Humans have weapons?!" I can't believe this. I thought they were totally defenseless.

"Well, yeah, duh," Kai just says mockingly while still being right on his toes. Again, he grabs my arm and begins running off into the forest. Just as we get hidden behind the trees, the man steps out of the backdoor and shoots his shotgun up into the air while screaming in anger. I put my hands up to my ears. I look over at Hera who is whimpering softly. Poor her. That's the downside of having a great hearing. We are stuck where we are because he will without a doubt see us if we try to run.

I slowly look out from our hiding, and to my surprise, the man is walking back into the cabin calmly and collected, as if nothing out of the ordinary had just happened. I blink a couple of times, not sure what to believe. I look at Kai, who is looking equally as confused. He shakes his head and after a couple of moments, he stands up. The man has closed the door, and the cabin is dead quiet. Weird.

I stand up as well and look at Kai and Hera. "Should we try to follow the road and see if we can reach the city?". They don't protest, so I begin walking, still being cautious so as to not attract any unwanted attention. I take a long and longing look at the truck. I really don't want to walk anymore. It would be so easy to take the car. I turn around, now walking backward, to face Kai and Hera. I point at the truck while lifting my eyebrows as a 'soo, should we take it?', but Kai just shakes his head. I let my head fall in exaggerated disappointment and hear Hera snort in the form of a giggle.

I turn around again to keep walking towards the road, but I catch something in the corner of my eye. But as always, I see nothing when I try to take a closer look. I can't possibly still be dehydrated. Honestly, I'm not that scared anymore, just sick and tired of whoever is playing tricks on us. I exhale and keep going.

After a long walk, we reach the outskirts of a city. I look at the sign.

"Dunsmuir," I read aloud. "Interesting name". We continue and before long we approach a large building. It looks a bit weird, with the front part of the building being taller than the rest, and it looks like it has a bell in it as well?

"It's a church," Kai says with little interest after seeing my confused look, without stopping. We go on and meet a couple of people. They look at us with weird looks. I take a look down myself afraid that I might be showing my tit or something, but Hera bumps into my leg, prompting me to look down at her, and I remember, that it's probably her that they are looking at. We walk on the sidewalk, and a couple with a little dog, much smaller than Bear, is walking towards us. The dog is almost the size of a large rat, and it also kinda looks like it. When they reach us, the woman kneels and asks if she can pet our dog. I look at Hera who looks up at me with desperate eyes, but before I get to answer, the woman is already petting her.

"What breed is she?" she asks, and I look frantically at Kai. He looks at me as well, just as surprised at this unwelcome interaction as me.

"Um, it's a wolf..." He says, with his voice in the tone of a question, looking at the woman for a reaction. She looks surprised and a bit scared while quickly standing back up.

"A wolf-breed," I step in, sending her my brightest smile. She laughs nervously.

"Oh well, I hope she won't eat our little chihuahua," she says with a questionable giggle. The man grabs her arm and pulls her off, but before they get too far, he turns around.

"You should put your wolf-dog on a leash. It's illegal to have it walk freely." He sounds mad, and I turn towards Kai a bit worried. He just shrugs, so we continue. We don't get to walk for long, however, before we hear some obnoxiously loud sound coming from down the street. Kai and I both cover our ears, and Hera starts howling involuntarily. We spot a car with some blinking lights on its roof approaching us, and as it is, the sounds get louder. We stand still just waiting for it to pass, but instead, it pulls to the side right next to us. The sounds are turned off, and out comes a man in a blue uniform. He has some shining metal thing on his chest.

"Good day, I'm Police Officer Heinrich," he begins while walking towards us from around the car. "We have received a complaint, that you are walking with a wolf without a leash, and that it's aggressive." I look around confused. Could it be the couple? I spot an elderly woman in a window in the house across the street. She is looking at us while being hidden behind her curtain and with a phone in her hand. When she sees that I have spotted her, she quickly pulls the curtain back. Kai is already in conversation with the police officer.

"Listen I don't care whatever breed it is, it needs to be on a leash," the police officer continues, both him and Kai clearly frustrated.

"We were on our way to the store to buy one, officer," I break in, once again, trying to calm the situation, but the officer seems quite mad. I don't know who pissed in his coffee this morning, but he is clearly not being very professional. I see that his hand is reaching down to his belt, where I recognize the shining of black metal. I swallow a lump in my throat. He clips open the casing to the pistol, and Hera begins barking furiously, ready to jump on the officer and rip him to pieces. This clearly doesn't motivate him to NOT grab his gun. I panic over the situation, not sure whether or not I should let Hera deal with this. There are a lot of people here who could see us, and if they all have weapons, then we won't stand a chance of surviving.

Before I get to speculate over our options any further, another man suddenly appears right in front of us, standing between us and the officer. He is tall, taller than Kai at least. He is probably 6'7 (or just above 2 meters). He has light blond hair in a stylish haircut. He is wearing a white turtleneck underneath an oversized t-shirt with print and some loose denim jeans. He looks pretty hot, but where the hell did he come from? He has his hand on the officer's shoulder and looks him deep in the eyes.

"You realize that these are just normal pedestrians that show no threat. You get in your car and drive back to the station, not questioning this situation further," he says in a monotone voice to the officer. The officer's eyes look blank, and then he just turns around and walks to his car, as if everything was in the finest order. This reminds me of the behavior of the man in the cabin. The strange guy turns half around so that I can only see one of his eyes, which is a dark brown/reddish color.

"You can go now," he says with no emotion in his voice. I look up at Kai, and when I look back, the guy is gone just as quickly as he came.
