"What are you?" He asks me, breaking the silence. I am quite shocked by this question. Mostly because I don't even know how to answer it.
"Werewolf. I think... And you are a vampire," I state. He nods.
"You don't smell like a werewolf." He lifts his...
I swing open the door to room number 36 and immediately swing my backpack up on the desk, that's right at the entrance. Then I pull my glasses off and shrug out of my jacket. I'm then pushed aside, completely forgetting that I was taking up the entire door, so Athena couldn't enter. She pushes her way past me and almost takes the bathroom door off its hinges, as she bolts into it. Not a second later I hear the sound of her pee hitting the water. I wrinkle my nose slightly - I'm not used to the more disgusting parts of the human body.
I throw myself on the large king-sized bed and let out a long sigh. Hmm, maybe I should get naked and surprise Athena with the wonderful gift that is the sight of my body when she returns, I think amusedly to myself. Nah, she hasn't earned that privilege. Yet. I then think to myself on the second thought. I decide to stand up and go over to the mini-bar instead and pull out a small bottle of wine. I pour two glasses and start sipping from my own. It's funny how some people think red wine is like blood when it's way too thin, cold, and acidy for that. People really don't have any sense of taste, if they could mistake the two. It's a curse to have such good taste as me, I sigh to myself.
Just as I'm about to return to my spot on the bed, Athena emerges from the bathroom door, looking a bit queasy. I hand her the other wine glass and clink or glasses together before she registers what I have handed her.
"To successfully escaping death," I proclaim and drink the rest of the wine in my glass. Athena hesitantly sips from her wine.
"Really, I have never met anyone who encountered druids and lived to tell the tale. Impressive.", I say while turning back to the mini-fridge, to pour myself another glass. Athena sits down on a comfy armchair that is halfway facing the bed. As she looks at the bed her face contorts into a look of... Disgust? Noo, she couldn't possibly be. Sleeping together with me is the highest form of existence anyone could ever wish to achieve.
"You are going to have to sleep somewhere else. That bed is mine." She proclaims as she takes another sip of her wine. As I said earlier; feisty, and I like it.
"I'm sure we'll figure something out," I say with a wave of my hand.
"As long as it ends with us two in separate beds, then sure," she says just as nonchalantly. I chuckle at that. I have a feeling we are going to get on well with each other. After a small pause, she takes a sip more, looks up at me and says,
"So, 'World-Ruler', what's your big plan?". I chuckle again.
"In general for myself, or do you mean for you and me?", I give her a seductive glance and finish my wine again. She just looks at me annoyed and roll her eyes.
"I mean in relation to this whole life-or-death situation I apparently find myself in?", she says mockingly, like I'm an incompetent child. Funny, as I'm literally like 200 years older than her. Well, whatever.
"I like to deal with things as they come. I'm not much for planning, when plans get changed constantly by factors you can't control. Seems like a waste of time to me." I answer while looking at my fingernails for something to pick at. As she doesn't say anything for a couple of seconds, I look up to find her rubbing her hands over her face in defeat. I sigh and try to show a bit more understanding towards her situation.
"Why don't you take a nap, and then we can talk about this when you are a bit more refreshed. I will scout for dangers in the meantime.". She removes her hands and looks at me with a contemplating stare, trying to spot if I might be trying to trick her, I guess. She must decide I'm trustworthy enough, as she gets up with a huff and says "fine", before falling down on the bed. I move to the windows to pull the curtains shut, and then turn around and pull the duvet over Athena before snatching my sunglasses and leaving the room, locking the door after me.
I decide to go investigating what this building contains. I walk from one end of the building, to the other, and realize, that all rooms are in the end I just left, and the restaurant is in the other end. To my dismay, there is now nothing left to explore, and it's only been 10 minutes. From what I know, I'm sure she needs more sleep than that. It's hard to determine however. I can't really remember how much I slept, back when I was still a human, so all I know, is that the humans in Dunsmuir slept for about 8 hours every night. But it's not night now. I look out of a window, and determine that it must be late morning by now. I decide I will give her until noon, and then she has to entertain me again.
I walk over to a comfy chair with a coffee table in front of it. On the table is a newspaper, which I pick up, deciding I might as well, to pass the time. As I open it, however, I find to my great surprise a play boy magazine, that has been skillfully tucked inside the newspaper, as to disguise the magazine. I nod slightly in content and get more comfortable in the chair before reading from one end of the magazine to the other.
About halfway through, the lady from the counter approaches me with a coffee pot in one hand and a coffee cup in the other.
"Coffee?", she ask me with a nice smile on her lips, that makes the creases around her eyes crinkle slightly. I look at her and nod gratefully. I hate coffee, but what am I supposed to do, when a sweet old lady offers me some? Even I couldn't say no to that.
As she turns around to leave after pouring me a cup, I pick up the cup and swiftly throws to coffee into a potted plant behind me. It makes a sizzling sound, that I hope the sweet lady didn't hear. Then I continue on with the magazine.
